Do you remember Savannah ,our friend that had a bad car wreck?

Some will remember Savannah,the friend of ours that was hurt really bad in a car wreck,had a broke neck and they gave no hope.Its been a year.Well the local paper had a big write up on her,because she graduated tonite with honors.Her sister and my Ashley was best friends in school and still very very close.Savannah has come alone ways.We are so so proud of her.She is headed to college.She will study and become a nurse.Thought some might want to hear the update.

Yes, I do remember your previous posts about Savannah. I'm so happy to hear that she's doing so well! I'm sure she will be a wonderful nurse. She will have so much compassion for her patients because she will truly know what it's like to have "been there, done that."

I know. I just couldn't believe it. And after I left and came back to work, I just kept thinking "OMG, what if they had been really injured, what would I have done?" CHILLS! I don't even want to think! Like my aunt said, someone must have been watching out for them.

Any Hyundai models 2001 and later are really fine cars. Earlier ones used left-over antique Mitsubishi powertrain and had their own quality problems. They've been making real nice cars lately at much lower price than Japanese rivals. I have had 2 late Hyundais (Santa Fe & Elantra) and 1 Kia Spectra (which is now owned by Hyundai and share the same major components) and I have had zero problems. The new Kia Spectra is just rebadged Hyundai Elantra (2.0L 140 HP). It looks compact but classified as medium size car by EPA on '06 model. Same thing for a medium sized '06 Sonata - it is now classified as a full-size car by EPA. They are roomy inside. I would buy these cares again if their relatively low price and 10 yr wty remains. The hardest thing when purchasing a Hyundai was pursuading my Toyota-loving wife!

A few years ago, we were having a huge cookout,bonfire etc, and a storm came up and started blowing chairs into the fire etc, so everyone packed up in vehicles and went to our house. It poured all evening, and we stayed inside or on the porch. Around 1 am, I took my mother and sister home. I carried up sis's crockpot and shut a window for her. I had left my car running on the street. I was in there no more than 5 min, and went to leave. No car... just my footprints in the mud. We had to call the police who questioned if it could have been reposesed. (paid cash for several years before that). we had to call BIL home from work to drag soaked ticked off me back to the country. I couldn't call anyone from home, as DD had DH's car, out on weekend from college. My car was found 10 am in town, still running, windshield black from wipers running, half a tank of gas gone, and my stick on clock missing. Still had cooler of beer and pop in trunk, half watermelon in back window, and 2 crock pots in back floorboard, bag of chips and loaf of bread in trunk. guess they just wanted a ride across town in a dry car? Funny thing was that I walked out to get mail Sunday morning, and got the info from JC Penneys charge card in mail. Had a benefit that if your car is stolen they offered a 1000 reward if it was found by anyone other than police or family. HaHa. The car was still missing at that point, and I called just for a laugh. The lady thought I was making it up when I told her that it had been stolen 8 hrs before. The police found the car, so there was no reward, and I was happy to get it back. I did attend a wedding shower that afternoon and we heard on scanner that they had "found the red bonneville stolen last night" I had driven it there!

Talley-Sue - yes, it was gaping. Kathy was in no condition to assess her wounds for a couple of days. She is fairly big breasted and only found the wound when she was able to take a bath a few days later. I would say the wound is about the size of a dollar coin. I even missed it when she first showed me her chest bruising but I wasn't looking that closely at her breasts just the bruising. The wound is under the breast on the outside. It actually looks like a bullet hole not that I have ever seen an actual bullet hole in someone's body. She is still finding bruises that she didn't know she had. Kathy did call her Doctor right away but like everything else you have to wait for an appointment which was today. Kathy did tend to her wounds like a nurse would do and she had a fellow nurse come and check her out. She wasn't mortally wounded so she waited to see her doctor. Kathy went to her family doctor today - he had all the reports from the hospital and he noted again where all of her injuries and bruising was. She has to go back again next week. I went with her to do some errands today and I could tell Kathy was in pain and asked her where she was feeling it the most. She said her breast and wearing a seatbelt wasn't helping any either. She said she might have to start taking a Percocet during the daytime too because of the pain. One good thing she wasn't skittish behind the wheel of the rental car. She is a little more wary of the other drivers though. We weren't out for more than a couple of hours and she had to get home because she was exhausted. Kathy has nothing but good to say about the people at the hospital and the EMT and police and good samaritans that were on the scene. If I was her I would probably be moaning and groaning but Kathy is not doing that and she is allowing us to help her. Kathy's insurance company has the police report but when she goes to see the lawyer I am sure he will get a copy. Anne

I am so happy! When you first wrote about her I didn't think she would survive.
It was so good of Ashley to be a part of her recovery.

Thanks you all for the kind words.I forgot to add they have a pic alone with the write up and she looks so so beautiful.I wish you could see the pic when she was in kindergarden,and now.Amazing how she fast times flys and how she blossomed.I know everone changes from kindergarden to a senior,but what I am saying if I did not know Savannah and passed her on the streets I would have never knew who she was.She still in therapy.Of course she has had so many surgeries.They stated in the paper,she could not speak only move her eyes to communcaite.I was just thinking about they had been talking about unplugging her when she was in the hospital,and to look at her now.I just can not get over this.Her and my niece is best friends.Also Chelsea,her sister,Ashley's friend is the sweetest,soft talking,yes mam,and no mam,person I ever ever know.She is now married[Chelsea] and doing her great too.There is another younger sister ,Mary`L` ,but she is the same way soft talking.This family is just one amazing family.I am not just saying this too.Thanks for letting me tell this story.
