Do you remember Savannah ,our friend that had a bad car wreck?

Some will remember Savannah,the friend of ours that was hurt really bad in a car wreck,had a broke neck and they gave no hope.Its been a year.Well the local paper had a big write up on her,because she graduated tonite with honors.Her sister and my Ashley was best friends in school and still very very close.Savannah has come alone ways.We are so so proud of her.She is headed to college.She will study and become a nurse.Thought some might want to hear the update.

Yes, I do remember your previous posts about Savannah. I'm so happy to hear that she's doing so well! I'm sure she will be a wonderful nurse. She will have so much compassion for her patients because she will truly know what it's like to have "been there, done that."

I know. I just couldn't believe it. And after I left and came back to work, I just kept thinking "OMG, what if they had been really injured, what would I have done?" CHILLS! I don't even want to think! Like my aunt said, someone must have been watching out for them.

Carol, interesting that your dad went through something similar. I think God allows those things to happen (and keeps us protected from harm within them) for a purpose--maybe to let us know a tiny fraction of what He protects us from each day so we know how loved we are, and how dependent we are, though we sometimes think we're self-sufficient. Maybe different people get different messages, too. Still, it's all good. Thanks for the added info on the peppers/acidity. I'm definitely trying the recipe you've just posted, and I think I'll go with the variation, since I like peaches better than mangoes, and I have so many of them! I'm also going to try something else, but I don't know if it will work. I like the flavor/texture of the uncooked freezer jam, but I want it spicy. I think I might put the cooked habanero/orange mixture from the "Cold Mornings" recipe in the fresh peach freezer-jam recipe and then freeze it. It may work, or it may flop, but if it flops, I think I'd still be able to use it as a glaze. We'll see! Thanks again for all your help!

Zalco, I haven't been to Terun, their crust looks delicious! Thanks for the rec. FYI, I don't consider Round Table to be great pizza, but it's close to my house and nostalgic. Pizza Delfina is really good and Vesta in Redwood City is where I go for creative toppings. Now that I think of it, Menlo Park doesn't have any great pizza places but I live in the next town over so if I'm lazy it's there or Redwood City. I grew up in Palo Alto and love to reminisce about all the great restaurants up and down El Camino, University Ave. etc. that are now gone. It's amazing that Round Table is still going strong. I especially miss the "old" Mings before they switched to mostly dim sum. I think we went out for dinner more than a lot of families. I could name 50 restaurants from Mt. View to Menlo Park that are now gone. I miss the good old days! I bought a small pizza oven but making the dough from scratch seemed more trouble than it was worth. Never tasted as good as the better pizza places.

Car wreck update/vent

Feeling some pressure over your problems, amylou. I was in a collision, turning left over nearby lanes, that caused irreparable damage to my car, none to me, and major, probably irreparable, to a van newer than mine with minimal personal hurt to the - two years ago next week. Haven't replaced my car, as I expect to lose my driver's licence. Had you chosen to go into the lane populated by various oncoming vehicles ... ... there'd be replacement of your vehicle, rather than merely some repairs. There'd likely be hospital and medical costs related to you ... and probably compensation related to ongoing, possibly lifelong impairment for you. Or, if you might not have survived, compensaation to your loved ones. Plus dealing with suits by people who'd hit you, and quite likely others who had hit them as a result. How'd they like that possible scenario? I hope you can achieve a reasonably appropriate settlement, fairly soon and without a lot of complications. ole joyful

I am so happy! When you first wrote about her I didn't think she would survive.
It was so good of Ashley to be a part of her recovery.

Thanks you all for the kind words.I forgot to add they have a pic alone with the write up and she looks so so beautiful.I wish you could see the pic when she was in kindergarden,and now.Amazing how she fast times flys and how she blossomed.I know everone changes from kindergarden to a senior,but what I am saying if I did not know Savannah and passed her on the streets I would have never knew who she was.She still in therapy.Of course she has had so many surgeries.They stated in the paper,she could not speak only move her eyes to communcaite.I was just thinking about they had been talking about unplugging her when she was in the hospital,and to look at her now.I just can not get over this.Her and my niece is best friends.Also Chelsea,her sister,Ashley's friend is the sweetest,soft talking,yes mam,and no mam,person I ever ever know.She is now married[Chelsea] and doing her great too.There is another younger sister ,Mary`L` ,but she is the same way soft talking.This family is just one amazing family.I am not just saying this too.Thanks for letting me tell this story.
