tralynn, Hi, and Welcome. I am guessing the expected one is a boy :) As far as the chocolate lollypops and a way to display them. Have her go to the dollar store or a few other stores looking to see if she can find some coffee mugs that are sports related (this way they get a take home gift). Take the sports mug and put styrofoam in it, then poke in the end part of the stick of the chocolate lollypops into the styrofoam. Cover the stryofoam with the shredded plastic or paper in your color theme that you can find at Walmart and most dollar stores. Then as a place card, you can attach a name tag with your guests name on it (either make the tag with the special cutters they have out in the scrapbook stores or cut it out with the scalloped scissors they sell at the craft store, then use a one hole punch to put a hole at the top of the tag, attach the tag to the mug with ribbon and you are set. As for the rest of the table, you can set up a centerpiece with a layout of sports equipment (football, baseball etc) Another popular thing these days is to do cupcakes as the main dessert. You can find inexpensive cupcake stands at Walmart, Michaels Arts and Crafts etc. The cupcake stand makes a nice center piece too. HTHs

A very simple favor/game is a flannel "diaper" made from about 2 or 2 1/2 in. square of cloth ,fold in diaper shape & pin with a little gold colored safety pin. 1 diaper is dirty- it has a very small dab of mustard in it!!When you tell them to check their diaper someone is the winner! Can be pink, blue, yellow or mint green diapers. GF was at GD's shower last week & they had a "crown" made of pretty blue fabric with silver stars, posterboard around bottom,(cut with wide zig zag) inside was stuffed with fiberfill. base of posterboard was edged with lt. blue & white pompoms. It was very cute & about 7 in across. Theme was baby will be king of their home. So the favors were bags from party store imprinted with a crown & "Thank you for attending A---'s shower" Inside the greaseproof bag was a big sugar cookie in same shape as crown on the bag. Lady had used a cookie mix & just cut into simple crown shape, they were about 5 in. across & 3 1/2 in high.You could write on the bags so you didn't have to pay for printing. GF said everyone really liked that they got to take them home! Could make a princess cookie for girl & glitz headpiece for girl. The crowns were the centerpiece on each table for the luncheon shower. I tried to take pic but my batteries died so I gave the crown back to GF. It was really adorable.Oh, crown cookies just had those dots in baby blue(looklike they were made with paper punch)at top of each of 5 points. It was very different & very cute!

At a recent bridal shower we played "Bingo" - each guest got a homemade Bingo card, center square "free" and in each of the other boxes you had to write in what you thought the future bride might receive as gifts at the shower. Bingo winners received either lotions/soaps or a floral decoration any of the tables. It was quite fun. Sal

And here's the recipe I use...just use a yellow royal icing, recipe to be found on a box of merangue powder, tint it yellow and there you go! Cute idea! Sugar cookies: 1 cup of butter 2 cups of sugar Cream together and add 2 eggs beaten with 2 T milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla ( I like a bit more) Mix with the butter mix Add 3 cups flour mixed with 1/2 tsp salt....and as much as 1/2 cup more flour until it's stiff enough to roll out Make flat patties, wrap and refrigerate for an hour or longer.... Dust board with flour and roll and cut... Bake 375 for 8 to 10 minutes....I use parchment on the cookie sheets....if you don't have parchment....lightly grease the sheets. The absence of baking powder keeps them from rising and keeps the cookies true to the shape of the cutter.....and makes them crisp Here is a link that might be useful: cookie cutters
