I made this cute outfit for Camryn yesterday. I love the hat!

The fabric is from Moda and it is so nice.

I'm so glad I have a little girl to sew for!!

Hi Sue -I'm so excited about your daughter! I was a lot like that as a kid, and it has remained a lifelong interest of mine. I had a couple of additional thoughts. There are lots of hip sewing blogs today, and many of them have projects all the time. I've linked to one I like, and from there, she can link to many more. Modernseamster.com is another good starting point. Another thought I had is to wonder if she might want to participate in an organization I have been working with for awhile. It's called Dress-a-Girl-Around-the-World. There are chapters all over the country, though there doesn't have to be one there locally for her to join in the fun. We make very simple "pillowcase" dresses for girls all over the world. The organization works on the premise of people donating supplies, so it wouldn't be money out of her pocket. Just her time and talents. My daughter has made many, and received an email photo showing a little girl wearing the very first dress my daughter made. Thanks for the info! I didn't have any leather to try out on it. I'm just trying to plan way ahead while I'm still studying upholstery. It would be SO nice if I could use this machine so I can just get straight to work A.S.A.P. That photo isn't really my machine, by the way. Just found it online. Mine looks just like it though, except mine is cream on the door at the needle end and on the top "hood" part. It's so pretty I sometimes leave it out with it's light on just because I like looking at it. How weird is that?! It's just that with the lines & curves, the paint and chrome, and the fine mechanical craftsmanship, it's like a cross between a vintage Timex and a '62 Coupe DeVille. :)

Hi Susie. Sorry I did not see your post sooner. I have a confidence quilter, about a year old. I sew a lot, garments only, and I like it. The buttonholer works well, but on a heavy wool coat I used the manual function with perfect results. My previous machine was a top of the line Singer 2001 Touchtronic that I got used in 1978. I must have sewn at least a thousand garments on that beauty before the computer board failed last year and broke my heart. While I cannot rave about my new machine, it has done everything I have wanted it to do, and done it well. I hope you have good results with yours.

It is so cute!!!! Here is my Granny-made strawberry dress- or at least the top of it. My mom has it stashed away someplace. She has all my Granny- and Nama-made dresses. My nieces and little cousin wore some of them since we are not having kids.

Moda quality is really so nice. Definite difference than sewing on Walmart fabric.
Might be a big mistake, but I'm going to the quilt shop today.
Like I need more fabric, I have a room full. But you never know what might be new!! LOL

All of them are so adorable....Wahhhhhhhhhhh I don't have any little ones to sew for anymore...And they are all an age that they probably wouldn't wear what I made any way...I did make maternity tops for my Granddaughter last year and I make scrubs for another GD and my DD ever so often.
