Even if you get ok from work your city/county may have restrictions selling homemade goodies. You might check with your health dept. It only takes one person to get ill, regardless if it came from your place or not to cause problems. You might do from either home, or other place away from work. Or take orders, ask for free will offerings etc.
If you are thinking about Disneyland, figure around 2000.00 for a family of 4. But there are many other places like Museums, beaches, etc. Are you from the area and are you familiar with the streets/freeways ? Let us know more and there are many of us that either have lived there or do so now.
Wild Animal Kingdom is great for Kids as Sea World.

Before you get to pricing, you might want to check to see if what you're proposing to do is legal. In my state (and in many) it's totally illegal to sell baked goods made in a home kitchen. You have to rent an approved, commercial kitchen for that sort of thing. I know you're talking about just a hobby sort of selling--but stop and think about this--if someone gets sick from your food (or if they just come down with a virus, coincidentally after eating your food--and they THINK it was from your food...) they could make a compliant to the board of health.

You really need to have the proper permits, inspections, and insurance to protect yourself, so that you don't end up spending the vacation $$$ on lawyers' fees if you get into trouble

Sorry--know that wasn't what you wanted to hear, but selling food today, is a HUGE liability, and you are really putting your family's finacial future at risk. I used to do that sort of thing (sold my cakes to friends), but there's no way I'd do so today. Too many people with allergies, too many who like to sue, too many restrictive laws. Just too risky.

Here's a thought, though--why not put together a little booklet of some of your favorite recipes aand sell those? or enter some of your original ones in cooking/recipecontests.

It's perfectly legal to "bake sale" items in my county/town/area. As long as the people purchasing know that.
We sell "homebaked" items at our concession stands for Little League.
Brownies from a box mix. 9x13 pan 2 bags plus oil, eggs and water cut into 12 large portions sell for $1.25. Costco's jumbo muffins sell for $1.00 and Otis Spunkmeyer's that I bake in my oven go 3/$1.00..
So from what we seem to sell like crazy without batting eyes, you'd have absolutely no problem selling to people at the prices you've listed.

This is no different than a local bake sale. We have them at church's, schools and work all the time. I think your prices are about perfect. I certainly would buy it from you rather than a vending machine. If you compare your prices to a vending machine, they are about the same. Who would not like homemade better? I sure would.

I don't see any problem with it either especially since you have it approved by your employer. With that being said, I would pay what you ask especially if you are a good cook and can make your stuff look good. Good luck and let us know how the trip went.

Thanks, didn't want to be too expensive. We have a state approved kitchen at work. We used to have a cafe sell food out of there, but they haven't for about a couple of years now. I do keep up on my food handler's card because I help the students at the college cook so much for events and many times they have to have someone with a food handlers card. We have all sorts of people at work selling food for fund raisers, from home made tamales (my favorite) to Baked Spagetti Dinners.

Why don't you just let people know that you would like to bake for special occasions like birthdays, and they can place orders with you as they wish instead of going to a regular bakery. You could make a flyer to put up at work.

Cupcakes are a real "in" dessert here in Southern California. I saw them priced $5 each at a local cafe where I lunch with DD in West Los Angeles. Not unusual pricing at all for the area. Good luck.

Sounds like you have everything covered, then. Prices seem okay--some are a little high for my area, but if your area will support them, go for it! (just to be on the safe side, there, you could check the pricing at the local bakeries, then price your things a tad lower--people always expect these things to be a little less than those bought from a store that has to support employees, rent, etc).

I'd limit your offerings to maybe only 2 or 3 different items at a time (Maybe have one kind of cookies, one type of cake, and one 'extra'--like your cobbler) so you don't go nuts. And make it clear that you aren't doing special orders--or you're likely to have one person who wants a poppyseed muffin, one who wants a chocolate cupcake filled with cherries and frosted with fudge frosting and someone else who wants an apple sour cream cobbler, etc. You'll go nuts trying to keep everyone happy. Just offer a tray of whatever you're making, and let them choose from that. Maybe you could offer a special--and let anyone having a birthday make a special request if they submit it a week ahead of time.

I think your pie prices are too low. Pies take longer to cook than a cake. I'd ask more for those and for the muffins. Good luck! If you lived around here I could get you lots of business. Have you ever thought about doing casseroles? My DD buys lots of those from a catering company here.

They have something out here called City Pass and you can get discounts on the attractions (if you plan to go to all of them). It will certainly save you a bunch of money.

I think you're prices are too low. You'd be lucky to make a profit on somethings. I just bought 2 peaches for $3 the other day. If you're making fruit pies and cobblers, I would definitely charge more for those. And,if your cookies have chips and/or nuts and butter, you'll be lucky to break even. Plus, you may have to plan on some stuff not selling.

I would take preorders for the pies and cobblers (even cakes) and sell them whole for twice of what you paid to make them. People like being able to take bigger stuff home to other family members.

If it's a fundraiser and a good cause, I would pay a lot more for homemade goods. I would price any individual item at at least a dollar or more. And, if you put enough fluffy icing on a cupcake you can charge big bucks for it! Just make sure to price stuff so that you're actually making a big enough profit to make it worth the effort. I'd hate to see you slaving and baking for 3 days to come out $7 ahead.

How about doing some big iced cinnamon rolls one morning (or some other breakfast - bakery good)? I would bet you could charge a lot for those. People love eating with their morning coffee and will probably pay a little more for a treat then since it seems more like a meal instead of just a snack.

I also think your prices are low. And have you thought about selling drinks on the side (bottled water, iced tea, frapaccino, Gatorade, etc.) for a profit (like, buy the stuff at Costco & charge vending machine prices?) Might be a way to boost your profits? GOOD LUCK with your endeavor!

Hope it's not out of line for me to ask, but do you have a hotel-specific credit card or membership card that allows you to earn points for purchases or stays? Since you're going for 10 days, that might help with expenses.
