I actually had a great experience with this company. I am sure with every business you will have problems... Sounds like you just did not receive what you wanted in a timely matter. Frustrating indeed...

I agree, I'm sorry your buying experience has not worked as expected. I also ordered from them recently and received all items in a timely fashion. I also had a similar experience like you described with JC Pennies where I got my quilt right away but had to wait about 4 months for the sheets. One thing that is nice about JC Pennies online is that you can return to the store and are not out any return shipping charges. So I do think it's a problem, but don't know that it is unique to The Company Store. They sold items in this store (such as Okeo-tex certified bedding, organic bedding, etc.) that are just not available any other way and the quality is very good. I also considered ordering comparable items from Cuddledown, but The Company Store was cheaper.

Schweitzer Linens does the very same thing, Tommmy. I ordered Euro-size shams and they did not have them, so they sent me king pillow shams! I called and spoke to a very unpleasant woman in the lower East side warehouse, who agreed to take them back and exchange them for a different sham entirely, as they were out of stock on the item featured in the catalog and did not expect to have the item for about six months!!! And I had to pay all the shipping.

Just a word of caution about Schweitzer... the customer is NEVER right.

I've ordered a few things from The Company Store in the past, and haven't really liked any of them. The sheets were rough, the rug was inferior quality, too much backordering going on, etc. Plus, almost everything they carry is just crap from China. I'd rather pay more--even if it means I have to save and wait-- and have sheets without toxic chemicals in them, better quality rugs, etc. I finally just put my foot down on all these cheap stores with products made from outsourced (and often exploited) labor in Asian countries. I know it's not possible to avoid it entirely, but enough is enough. I"m sick of it.

It's always upsetting to hear about anyone's problems with online or in-store purchases, but I must say that I've ordered many things from The Company Store over the years, and I've always been satisfied with their products and customer service. In fact, I've been impressed enough to have recommended the website to friends and family, and they too report pleasant shopping experiences. I've been pushed to my wits end with retailers like Macy's and others more times than I care to remember, but The Company Store has been a favorite for a long time. If you don't already do so, I'd suggest that if and when you run into problems with any customer service department, insist upon talking to a supervisor. They typically have more authority and experience and can be quite helpful in eliminating red tape and confusion. I hope your shopping experiences are more pleasant in future.

Thanks for the information. I was considering ordering some sheets for DD from them but changed my mind as a result. I just dont want to risk any problems anymore with a store that might have a questionable return policy.

Organic, I'd be interested in learning where you order from, as opposed to the places that carry the cheap Chinese-made stuff. Can we have a list? (:

walkin: I get my bedding off ebay: RH and Sferra sheets (both of which are made in Italy). I've also ordered some organic sheets from Cuddledown (a Maine company)--I love this company, in particular. For rugs, I've just bought new or vintage oriental and had them cleaned. But I have a very small house, so the financial outlay is relatively small for me. :)
