your post has gotta be a first for the garden web pond forum! i had a hen with the same problem, used vaseline on my rubber-gloved finger and pushed the prolapse back in and all was fine again for her- she even continued to lay eggs. a frog tho?- hmmmm. i donno. maybe IF you can catch it, use vaseline on a q-tip and try to poke the prolapse back in place? i'm very unclear about a frog's personal anatomy tho, so can't imagine if this is even possible. poor thing - nature just might take care of this problem herself but, like you, i would want to help. if you decide to euthanize, maybe wrap it in something soft and put it in a freezer? or drop it in boiling water like we do with innocent but delicious lobsters. both ideas make me sad. min

They've been croaking here more this week, but I was hearing a few in Feb. and I saw the first eggs a few weeks ago. They went through a freeze, so I don't know if that affected them or not...time will tell. I don't think there will be as many as the last couple of years since we kept the water from collecting on top of the pool this winter. We heard some on and off throughout the winter. I noticed the Indian Plums were starting to bloom in the woods.

I read that they vomit up their own stomachs so perhaps that is what the bubble is. But maybe it is also their egg that is clear because it is unfertilized, because the only time I saw this there were two frogs I rescued alive from my skimmer. The best time to rescue them is first thing in the morning at 6:30am or 7:30am. Any later than that and they may have struggled too long to get out and passed away of exhaustion. Frog logs do work but you do have to help them off them so check them after the skimmer. I wish I bought a lighter coloured one because the medium blue doesn't allow me to see the dark green frogs on them until I am on the other side of the pool up close. Worth having though as I did save a couple within a few weeks! I think maybe some can jump off but some can't. Maybe I am wrong and they were just relaxing and I ruined it lol!
