Rag quilt #7

On this quilt I used flannel in the middle and put the X through all squares, have the next one cut out and ready to sew.

Remember me. lol Is your hand sore from all that cutting? I have rag snips and that really helps alot. All of them have been precious.

No, not selling. Trying to get help with finding the right kind of sewing machine for the type of quilt shown in the pictures. Did you even read the feed msmeow? Thank you so much toolgranny! I did just that today! My machine guy has an industrial Pfaff for me to look at when I go by to look at the 530 record and the 730 record. I will also ask him the part of the question I posted about presser foot motion too. Somewhere I have heard the term "box motion". Not sure if that is an industrial feed dog motion or presser foot motion. I have learned so much about different machines since both of mine have pooped out on me!! I do see why so many people that enjoy sewing or do it for a living usually have a couple of machines to choose from! I really love the vintage machines, I have always found the new computerized models a bit confusing! I will say the capability of these machines to produce embroidery designs blows me away, just not sure I could program the machine to do so without an extended education corse! ;) Meeting to look at the machines on Monday. Will come back and post how that goes! Really excited! Miss sewing too, been 2 weeks now, beading is not as fulfilling for me!! Have a great rest of your weekend everyone! Super Bowl Suday tomorrow! Mini rag doll, quilt and bed

9 Patch Twins! Here are two more dolls and quilts for twin sisters. The 9 patches really got a bit wonky, I think no steam would have been better or even fingerpressing with something so tiny and probably pressing seams open would be good. I don't work in miniature that often. The 9 patches are 2" unfinished. I didn't have time to sew on the bindings like on the other one, so I just pillowcase method turned these. But I don't think the girls getting them for their 3rd birthdays will mind! Since I didn't have any other nice wooden boxes, I found some Ikea plastic containers that were the same size. I ordered the cardboard beds that come with the patterns now, but goofed assembling them and they are pretty flimsy even when done right. I'll probably include them to play with but they won't last long!

My rag quilt won't "rag"!

Just washing my fabrics for I spy swaps partially stopped up my sewer line. When the DH ran the snake through the line, he said it looks like "mop strings". Since I am dealing with larger pieces, I bought some lingerie bags to help with that problem. I'm not sure it would help with the finer fraying of a rag quilt. You might put a drawstring in an old pillowcase which would be much like Wanda's cotton bag. bk

Sure I remember you nancii good to see you. I have a pair of Fiskar Soft Snips for clipping the quilts they work real good have little blades on them. So far had no trouble with my hands I try clipping as I go don,t know if that makes any difference.

Another cute rag quilt! WTG!! Have you decided if you like them better with the X or without? Just wondering as all the ones I have done have had an X even without batting.

I only made one not using the X it turned out nice and soft but I didn,t like the look, so do the X now using 3 layer,s of flannel, I found that using batting in the middle and X made the quilt feeling not so soft and rather stiff and I used thin all cotton batting.

I will have to try the 3 layers of flannel. I have done them using batting or 2 layers of flannel but never 3. I have some flannel I think I will cut tonight. Stress relief after the first day of school ~ LOL.
