We're heading out early tomorrow, to the beach on the Gulf of Mexico, south of Clearwater, FL, with our friends. Yes, where the sharks and other deadly creatures are lurking, waiting for me to stick my big, big toe in! Remember where Necci almost met her demise???

And I wanted to say thanks again for the lovely birthday wishes the other day and you all take care and stay safe.

Now, who wants me to have a bit of Sex on the Beach for them? It's a DRINK, sillies! rofl I'll mark Lydia's name down first, I know she's up for it. *snork* Who else?

Bye! I'll miss you.

I had to laugh yesterday - I thought I'd planned my garden orders pretty well, so that the daylilies would arrive in early May, and I'd be able to plant them myself, right away. SO, guess what arrived yesterday? A box of daylilies. I forgot that I'd done a small order from GHWild quite a while ago, for a few things from one of their great sales. Here I am, unable to bend down to pick up things I've dropped, with a box of daylilies to plant. Phooey. Fortunately, my friend Becky was coming to visit that day, and she planted them for me. I pointed, she planted. Aren't friends great? My little box contained: 'Route Sixty Six,' 'Black Friar,' 'Moorish Beauty,' and a bonus of 'Alice in Wonderland.' They were decent divisions of 3-4 smaller fans each, a little dried out but healthy otherwise. I doubt they'll bloom this year, but I might get a pleasant surprise. Laurel

Plantmaven: a few hours and 2 cans of krylon and you can have a rainbarrel almost any color under the sun. I also use (for clients) a local company that paints their barrels slightly differently. They use a krylon primer but then paint the barrel - exactly matching the house and they make nifty custom risers for the barrels too. This works well for my clients in historic districts or those with HOA's. I wish I could get a nicer riser for mine. Even just the right size cement without mish-mashing a bunch of odd pieces. If they all looked flat and plain I could simply paint them out purple to match! Schoolhouse, there is some way you are supposed to crank (or whatever) the hinges on these gates to tighten them, however I have no tool or knowledge of how to do that (I guess I should google it!!!). The posts stayed up well, it's just the silly hardware.

Your plane is getting out of Newfoundland? Great news - I was sure you would get stuck since the airlines were all announcing major delays/cancellations for flights to/from the Maritimes due to our "friend" Earl. I hope you have a great time.

Toni- Necci has her eye on a bald eagle nest this year. Sea turtles were her warm up act. *snork*

have fun in FL! it's actually cool today and tomorrow at 85 :-0 we'll have the A/C off both days! you'll see lots of brown everywhere, it's been another drought yr for us, we just started having rain after 40 days w/o...

the west coast is pretty quiet for sharks bites but be careful on the east side, especially brevard/volusia, they are close to 1 shark bite victim a week there! enjoy! ~ liz
