Finishing a binding on a 'pirate' quilt for DGS. It's not a surprise or a gift, just a 'because I love you' quilt. When he saw it in progress I had just added the inner border. It was to be a throw size as he already has a quilt for his bed from his GG. He looked at the qlt & said 'Gma, haven't you seen my bed?! It needs to be bigger! Not this way (horizontal) but THIS way (vertical)' Out of the mouths of babes :) The young man knows what he wants! He's 6, so off came the border, another row of blocks added, then (since I ran out of backround fabric) I added 4 borders instead of the 2 I had originally planned. Can't wait to see if this quilt 'measures up'!!
Am going w/my mom to check out a new LQS about 40 mi from here. Anxious to see it-- altho small, apparently they sell top quality fabric, incl Moda, my fav, for $5.99/yd This could be my new fav store!! there goes my budget! lol
Later I'll work on my lotto blocks, the applique this month is totally inspiring:) This forum is just way too much fun!!*

No sewing today. In a couple hours we'll be heading over to Gainesville Gatorland to pick up DGD from band camp. A stop at Hooter's on the way back to celebrate DH's 75th BD is planned, so by the time we get home, it'll be past our nap time. @:) Not sure what I'll do tomorrow as I'm trying to tie up loose ends in preparation for a 2 month stay in Indiana.

Finishing up a table topper for a swap today (hopefully). I wanted to finish it yesterday but it was one of those totally frustrating days and I finally gave up. Neither machine wanted to work right; finally got the Juki on the frame to cooperate, then got a big pucker just as I was finishing the border. So I need to frog-stitch enough quilting to fix the border then requilt it, then put on the binding.

I'm sticking close to home as 92 yer old Uncle not well and I can't do much before Monday - short of emergency room which isn't indicated yet.

So, I'll do more quilting than shopping. I have a few tweaks to finish up restoration on an old Featherweight I'm trying to get running. Thank heavens I also have a good one I can go look at when I'm not sure which way a part fits.

I'd also like to get a Seminole border done on a wall hanging. I have a baby quilt to do FMQ on but don't know if I'll have enough oomph to start. Once I start, I do pretty well. Maybe I just need more coffee.

Clay at Hooters?? Now that's a celebration. Tell him I prefer Chippendales myself.

I'm not sure what I'll get to today. Friend was in town and stayed over last night. He presented our Christmas gift to us...a Wii!! That's been rather time consuming, mostly for the kids, but it may be my turn soon.

I do have some fabric to wash, press and cut for BOM for Monday's meeting.

I have more strips to sew and cut for the guild's raffle quilt. It would be nice to work on that as well.

We're trying to finish a wooden playset for the kids, but it's (finally) been raining since last night...only now starting to dry out.

This morning I finished the birthday blocks I have due for August since I won't have time to do them then. (Hope Bill doesn't mind getting his early!!!)

Now I'm working on the July/August bird house applique lotto block, but I'm struggling with that. Decided I needed a break and some inspiration from reading some posts here! But I'll get back to it right after lunch.

Then I'll make the last of the 4 pillow cases I'm working on. That's pretty quick and easy but I want the satin ribbon trim between the body and the border to be perfect!

The big project for this weekend is to get the binding cut and sewn onto the king quilt. Then I can work on hand stitching it down on the back of the quilt in the evenings. I think I keep putting it off because I have to move the machine out of the sewing room to do it. This quilt is so big I need the dining room table to help support it all.

Maybe I'll go for a swim first..... I can work on the big quilt tomorrow!

I finished the second and third of my three July lotto blocks and am halfway through the third of my applique birdhouses.

We're also hosting a German Shorthair Pointer and Japanese Chin for the night, as we do rescue transport driving and coordinating. Our guests are en route from Michigan to New Jersey. Tomorrow morning we take them to their next handoff point as they continue their journey to new homes.

Clay at Hooters......the girls sang happy birthday to him and we had a grand time....as did the girls. If you've ever met him, he's a hoot all by himself, so read between the lines! @:)

Linda/OH, Saturday is a family reunion, so that is out. I might see of DD can bring me over on Friday so I'll at least get to see you! Is your guild selling those cute little zippered bags again? I use mine all the time and am thinking about xmas gifts. I love seeing what the vendors have to lure me into spending $$$$$. @:)
