Can you stand one more On Stage?
Comments (2)Ya konw, I was saying that I had 3 of these and had no desire to thin out these duplicates. But I'll tell ya, I was at a garden mart today and saw a few GORGEOUS OS's and decided I'd make some room for at least one more. I SOOOOO love this hosta! Thanks for sharing!...See MoreIs there southern peas more suited to green shelled stage eating
Comments (8)I have grown several varieties of peas. I have 73 in my collection. I agree with garden lad and have mentioned it here before Blackeye is my least favorite. Just lacks taste and unless well seasoned is mealy tasting. I would go with the purple hull pinkeye instead. Whipporwill is excellent in the shelly stage. I prefer it as a shelly pea than a dry pea. As a dry pea when cooked it just never appealed to me.I have three whipporwill varieties. To me the crowders are probably tops, cream peas next than the eye types. The time to pick peas is when the pods have turned from green to either cream, yellow or purple depending on the variety. Peas picked in the green pod stage can be used as snaps either cooked along with the shelled peas or alone boiled in seasoned water same as green beans or stir fried. There is a lot of different tastes in the various field peas. I have a holstein pea (white and black like the cow) that has a taste similar to boiled peanuts. I will have probaby 20 varieties of peas at the Appalachian heirloom seed conservancy next month. I want to trade so bring lots of beans peas tomatoes etc. and Gardenlad I want some of them pink tip beans. Rodger...See More2 stage or 2 stage variable
Comments (15)Bob, I must say you are good for a laugh. I don't know if you make these ignorant comments just to get a laugh or if you are really that ignorant. What is your definition of an "average"? "Most consecutive 100F days: 42 days, 1980 (Jun 23-Aug 3) Most 100F days: 69 days, 1980 All the other years are less." Those numbers are NOT averages. The only "average" I gave above was the statement of "From 1899 to 2004 DFW only AVERAGED 16 days per year over 100 degrees,". Since the factual numbers came from the National Weather Service I don't think they are biased to promote tourism. And given that you can't even keep a friend of yours HVAC equipment running for more than a week, I certainly would not compare your methodology for computing temperatures to be superior to the National Weather Service. Posted by Bob Brown... "I have a problem customer that is an old friend. I spend too much time working on his 2- TRANE systems. Both the 12 year old unit and the 4 year POS. They seem to take a dump weekly. I am the last of many Techs to work on the systems. I first got involved last summer when the new system would not work. I have not been able to keep that system working for more than 1 week at any time." I have a problem customer that is an old friend. I spend too much time working on his 2- TRANE systems. Comments (2)Heat pumps need to be sized for their cooling loads. If you don't then the equipment will run in short cycles during the summer. This means higher humidity, higher electricity bills, and a shorter life span. Over sized 2-stage equipment is a little more forgiving, but in the low stage most 2-stage equipment operates at 70-75% of total capacity. How do you currently heat your house? If it is fuel oil, then a dual fuel system makes a lot of sense. If it natural gas, then you may not be saving much money with a heat pump. Post the rates of your fossil fuel and electricity and a calculation can be done to compare the relative operating costs....See Moreherus
