Anyone had to 'hide' their purchases ? ;)
Comments (50)Denise, let me share something I've known for 20 years... That HD stuff? It stands for 'hunnerdollars'. Doesn't matter what the part, 9 times out of 10, $100 was paid for it. Considering there are two full 'baggers' in the garage, and pieces parts of three other 'less than 4 wheeled vehicles' in the drive way... I don't have to hide plants. I always remind that His hobby is considerably more expensive than mine, and all those Harley parts equal a lotta orchids. (Mentha, who knew you were so sneaky!? I was wondering when introduced as the 'lady I bought that epi for as a birthday present' but I remeber I sent you all the cuttings... I figured that was what that was about!!!) I don't hide plants, but I have had to take a bit of flack lately. "Is that anOther orchid??" "Yes, dear don't you think it will photograph well up against the color of the side cover on the motorcycle? Perhaps sitting the on the trike? Then everyone could see we share hobbies!" Which is Not True. If it has tires, he is happy. Leaves and flowers, my deal all the way. We schedule our events accordingly. He goes to Lake Elsinore to the Trike In, and I attend the Epi Show & Sale. Oh, yeah, I'm addicted to more than just hoyas!...See MoreHas anyone washed a quilt with wool batting
Comments (2)Just talked with my friend, Keren, who used a wool batting on her gorgeous bed quilt using Kaffe Fassett striped fabrics. She loves the wool batt and has washed it one time in her large home machine. The quilt held up very well. Her machine quilting was about 4" apart. I would not use really hot water and I would only wash a quilt with a wool batt as needed - not every week or even every month. She has had this quilt on their bed for about 2 years and it has been washed just once. A lap quilt will be easy to air dry on a line or draped across a clean curtain rod or wood drying rack. If machine dried, I would not use extreme heat. Teresa...See MoreAnyone seen a double curtain rod bracket like this before?
Comments (4)That site definitely has very very similar things. I can see how maybe those brackets were once brass - all the original brass doorknobs are still there, and have a similar appearance. Obviously the old brackets have been painted, but that could be done to a new one. I'm going to look around some more and try to find a double-rod version... anyone with similar links or hints feel free to comment! Thanks!...See MoreDesiccant in my new sofa -- anyone ever had this problem?
Comments (4)Raise hell. Jeez, I've had better customer service at Wayfair and Amazon, for furniture that I'm sure was way cheaper than what you bought. Call them and ask to speak to a manager. Stand your ground. Remember that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. If suspicious powder does not stop coming out of the fabric, then that's bizarre and scary. it deserves immediate attention. Also, re: earth friendly: many companies claim they are earth friendly and use clever marketing to pull the wool over your eyes. maybe there's one detail that's earth-friendly (like just the upholstery for example), and so legally they can get away with claiming their product is green overall. I'm not saying that's what Lee does, but other companies do it all the time. it's called Greenwashing. In addition, just because it's green does not mean it's harmless. if they had dessicant packets (that were somehow "green") that spilled open, then it could still be harmful....See Moresusie100
