I'd like to know Daisy's post story! Why did the inspector say you had to have it...support? And now it is removed? YIKES!

Here is my stainless. I had a hard time finding stainless that didn't have any black on it, unless it was really expensive, so gave up. I do not like the dust that shows on the black.

Here are mine. I haven't replaced my stove yet - so it's still black. My appliances are different makes. Refrigerator and DW are Fisher and Paykel. Microwave Bosch - Stove, I haven't decided.

msrose: Yes I live in a log home.
newhomebuilder: The only reason the inspector wanted the support is because I didnt have engineered drawings for the staircase. I drew all the plans for our house, and in no way is the post needed for suport, but to make him happy we put it in for the inspection. You know how inspectors can be.
I can post photos and our story if anyone is ever interested.
msrose: my appliances are not the same brand. I went with features that I wanted, also shopped at the Sears outlet store and could get things for 1/3 the price.

msrose - Ours are all the same brand, but if we had gas, I would have gone with a better cooktop. The appliances are GE Profile and we have not been particularly happy with the,. The fridge has already been replaces after 2 years, and they replaced it with a lesser model which really made me mad! The one you see in the photos is the old fridge. The newer one has a gray icemaker.

mrose - thanks for the compliment on our granite. It's a unique coloration of Yellow River that my granite yard called Aspen River. It's from Brazil.

daisy - I'm so glad you mentioned the Sears outlet. I've never been to ours, but I know we have one somewher in the area. Since I'm on a budget, I think I'll check that out 1st.

I went with all the same brand. There are colors of stainless steel.

I have a KA DW and a Jenn-Air slide in range and microhood.
My KA biscuit refrigerator yet lives but someday will morph into a new stainless one.
KK is right there are diffences in stainless colors. but since mine are across the room, it is not noticable.

I hadn't been appliance shopping in MANY years.
Was blown away but the $$$ prices!~
(We had gone to Lowes- had a builder allowance).
Walked away in disgust, told hubs and the Lowes clerk to pick them out- they did all KitchenAid & as I said, I'm very happy with them.

So many pretty kitchens.

I would show you a picture of mine but they are covered in fingerprints. (Choose black LOL)

I had this debate too last year and I went with stainless. I can't speak for everyone but I find they are a total pain to keep clean and finger print proof.

My fridge is not from the same company as my stove and dishwasher and it is "Frigidaire" and the nice thing about it is there is a finish on the stainless steel that prevents fingerprints etc etc. Just thought I would recommend you to check it out. My fridge always looks amazing...my dishwasher and stove without this finish never look that great.

I miss my old white set to be honest it was nice and bright and always very clean looking...(live and learn).

We went with black and stainless, just because I couldn't fully commit to either (a black fridge seems like a huge black hole to me and I'm not drawn to all stainless for some reason). You can't see the dishwasher in either of these photos, but it's stainless and is at the end of the island, next to the sink and opposite from the hanging dishtowel in the 2nd pic. I like the mix (although many of the all stainless kitchens above are drool-worthy)!

with just the two of us, the ss works fine but I would rethink it if my kids still lived at home.
