Gee, I don't know, Doc. Why do YOU think?

DH developed roseacea this spring. The dermatologist put him on an oral antibiotic that helped. DH was concerned about taking an antibiotic long term; called the office and asked if that was OK, or if there was any topical treatment he could try -- possibly wean off the oral meds if a topical helped. Doctor's nurse said to try Metro-Gel in addition to the oral meds. The office phoned in a prescription to our pharmacist.

After using the gel ($65/tube) for two days, just on the affected area (chin mostly), DH's whole face lit up like a stoplight -- red, swollen, weeping. He called the dermatologist this morning as soon as they opened and they agreed he could come in -- after he said it was that or the ER!

The doctor looks at DH; diagnoses an allergic reaction to the 'base' of the Metro-Gel, and says, "Why are you using this? Did you ask for it?"

WHAT?

DH is now on steroids (prednisone) for 15 days and looking for a new dermatologist.
