A friend from another board is in an underground shelther as we speak in Edmond Ok...Fierce tornado area...

I got my tornado gear in the closet... but it looks like round two will be just north of Norman rather than OKC.

My daughter was within a mile of the mess in Edmond. She got lucky. There were 4 in the interior bathroom, with lots of pillows and blankets.

Nothing happened to the house, nor the cars that were parked outside. She has a one car garage, and her car was in there.

It is eerie quiet in my neighborhood.

The sirens went of 4 times already.

A rough ride last night and today in KS also. I got my things together just in case I needed to get down in my storm shelter in my crawl space...glad I did not have to go there...and hoping for a quite night tonight!..but looks like another storm coming in from the west. I am hoping there are no injuries in OK....sounds like they were getting tornadoes in places also. A lot of graduations were postponed and I know grandparents etc. had come from quite a long distance.

Our tornado sirens went off and I went to my basement. Then I got a call from a friend saying "no tornado, but 70+ mph winds." Last year we had straight line winds in another part of town and homes were damaged.

Just sending good thoughts to all in the area. Stay safe and listen to the radio and look out side.

It looked like the location of one of them was very near our former house in Norman out by Lake Thunderbird and Hi way 9 area.
Moni or Audrey was that area hit? I was trying to watch on the weather Channel and was happy to hear Mike Morgan's voice as they were broadcasting channel 4. From the video and radar it looked close.

Got lucky here. The storm fell apart before it got here. We got a few sprinkles and wind and that was it.

My prayers for safety go out to you all.

I don't know how you live under the constant threat of tornadoes. They are so frightening! Having lived through the outer edge of Hurricane Sandy, I do not ever want to experience a tornado! The wind was horrific and I expected my huge oak tree to land on my head.

The Chicago area is expecting severe thunderstorms to blow through tonight and into tomorrow morning. We *rarely* have a tornado this close to Lake Michigan. We already have the high humidity and rising temperatures coming up from the SW to clash with cooler air to the north. Rain is needed, but we hope to avoid hail and wind damage. No electrical power means no A/C and no sump pump.

I'm nowhere near the tornado area. I'm in Long Island New York. We had rain all day Sunday, and we're supposed to have rain and thunderstorms every day this week. I saw the TV news coverage of Texas and Oklahoma tornadoes. Hope everyone is safe!

My daughter is 38 years old. She was born and raised in Oklahoma, and lived here all except for 15 years in Korea.

This was her first time close to a tornado, and yes, she was scared, and yes, she plans on getting a tornado shelter by next years season.

The typical tornado season is from March till the end of June, and no, we don't live in a constant threat of tornado's, but they do happen here.

knock on wood we've been in detroit area for going on 25 years, and havn't had an actual tornado but the winds can be bad enough with the 2 willow trees we have...we're under a watch right now but with only 20% chance of rain...but i park my car away from the trees now...

did go thru a earthquake more than once, although the worst was when i was a child. that hit bakersfield, (we lived in hollywood) but can remember the power lines flashing as they hit each other...my mom said my dad took us to the drive-in movies (newly from ohio, lol) cause we lived in a brick building.....(they were damaged the most)

I just pulled up NOAA. Ick!!! The red boxes are starting to pop up around Oklahoma City.

I saw there was another "quakenado" yesterday. That's when you are under tornado watch and you get an earthquake. Also learned the term "debris balls" yesterday. Apparently, the storm equipment is getting sophisticated enough to pick up debris from the storm on radar.

I just spoke to some of my friends in Norman, one said he watched a funnel go right by his house but he got minimal damages. He did say over where my former home was they had some damage and on down a little ways from there in Bethel Acres and Pink there was major devastation. I did see some of the live feeds during the hurricane and knew those areas had been hit pretty bad.
When I lived in Norman I always dreaded tornado season the most. We have them around here too but not nearly as much as when we lived in Oklahoma.
If I still lived there we would have a shelter or a safe room, been through too many close calls there not to have one. My mother in law has one in her yard she still lives in Oklahoma but at 91 it would not be easy for her to get into and out of it since it has some stairs.

There is a major tornado on the ground in Moore right now.

Here in Owasso, just north of Tulsa no sirens have gone off but I have gotten several severe text alerts on my phone from the local tv station... It is raining lightly here right now with a little bit of wind, nothing out of the norm because it's always windy here... it is very dark outside. The storm that spawned the tornado in Shawnee yesterday fizzled out before it got here, so the one that hit Moore earlier this evening. I do have my coat closet cleaned out and ready to jump into... my husband is on a plane right now, on his way home from Houston, that is scarier to me then being here in the house.... I have lived in Oklahoma my entire life. I can honestly say I am not afraid of tornadoes, I take heed and caution but fear, nope...I do have a nephew and family that live in Moore, we cannot get in touch with them. Their house is several miles away from where the tornado hit but do not know if they were home, out or if they are safe...

Moore is about 12 miles south as the crow flies... and my daughter lives 17 miles north east of me...as the crow flies.

We are safe.

It is AWFUL in Moore.
