All about Me Quilt

Thanks for joining in, this will be a quilt all about yourself. We will share pictures throughout the experience so that we can get to know each and everyone. Each month I will post a size and theme for each block. The creativity is up to you. You may piece, paper piece, applique embroider or anything you like, as this is about your own personality. Wouldn't it be great to leave a family legacy of your own, your children, grandchildren and down the line will know all the things you liked most.

This will start September 1st this is NOT A SWAP.Please check here monthly to get the next block.

the first block will be Block One-- 12"x12" block - Your favorite Quilt Block (example- mine is a flower vase)

I have posted block 1 now for September so everyone can get a early start. You choose your colors it is your quilt! There will be 14 blocks and at the end I will post the Construction of the top!

IDEAS: You could piece it (easy or hard, depending on how long your name it!); you could show off your best applique skills; you could do machine or by-hand embroidery; you could cut out letters and fuse them on; you could do a big initial; you could use a fabric pen and write in your formal name, your nickname(s), and any other pet names that family members have for you; you could write your name in a sandy beach, take a picture of it and print that onto fabric; you could write your name with ribbon stitched onto the block.

I like all those ideas, especially the birthstone and birth flower. A sew on small birthstone might work. That is a big block, guess it can be broken down into mini blocks. I'm doing a block of the month called Leannes House, by Leanne Beasley, and they are bigger blocks broken down into mini blocks, the same could be done here.

I am a little confused. Will each month you give us a topic (like the first month is your favorite quilt block)?? Ahead of time, should we predetermine a color scheme or that it could be completely scrappy? Will they all be 12 x 12? I think I might like to try it. Deanna

Since this is a quilt about you you should predetermine a color scheme or it could be completely scrappy if you choose. I will give a new topic each month and the blocks will be different sizes and at the end I will post the Construction of the top!

This is going to be a great project we all do quilts for someone but never ourselves...but this will be a quilt that can be past on......it will be a treasure!
Remember this is your quilt so you should predetermine a color scheme. This is your quilt so how ever you decide to construct your block method is your choice!
We are getting a great response to this project!

I'm not officially joining this one. I am swamped, but I think I'm going to keep checking in and if things ease up some I may play catch up later on. This does sound neat.

Red, will there be a background/sashing fabric to join the blocks together? If yes, the I know how I'll choose my color layout. I don't want to use certain colors if that might end up being the color needed to "tie" it all together...

Yes there will be a sashing it will be 3" inches in the Construction of the top! . You pick your colors!
