Okay everyone the block for October is to be

21" long by 7" tall Your name block made anyway you wish!

This is block #2 of the all about me quilt! This block will be due at the end of the month!

Hi Red,
You mean that in this block, we actually do a block spelling out ou name - is tha correct???

Yes Bill how ever you wish to design it also the block is due at then of October didn't add Oct. at the end of the above post!

I finished this up several weeks ago since I like to work in bulk. haha Not a fan of Halloween...but I do love FALL! I'm trying to keep to my vow of not buying any new fabric for these blocks & to use what I have (unless I need more blue sky fabric). I found some fun fall squirrels in my stash! And found a good use for the fringed yellow selvage. ;) One of these days I'll have to sit down & use my nylon thread & stitch all this stuff down.

I like all those ideas, especially the birthstone and birth flower. A sew on small birthstone might work. That is a big block, guess it can be broken down into mini blocks. I'm doing a block of the month called Leannes House, by Leanne Beasley, and they are bigger blocks broken down into mini blocks, the same could be done here.

Boy oh Boy-That will be a stumper for me-yikes. My creative juices aren't doing anything right now. I will have to sleep on that. Is the actual size 21 x7 or do we need a seam added?

Any sites you might suggest to get my brain going?? deanna

Add seam allowance on all blocks.......You can make the block how everyou want you can add what ever you want to your name.......you design the block........

Will it be horizontal or vertical? That'd make the difference of how I do mine...

IDEAS:
You could piece it (easy or hard, depending on how long your name it!); you could show off your best applique skills; you could do machine or by-hand embroidery; you could cut out letters and fuse them on; you could do a big initial; you could use a fabric pen and write in your formal name, your nickname(s), and any other pet names that family members have for you; you could write your name in a sandy beach, take a picture of it and print that onto fabric; you could write your name with ribbon stitched onto the block.

Oh Solstice, you are a dear!!! Thanks for the ideas. You certainly gave me some very good ones. Any other ideas from anyone else of course are appreciated.

I love your block and think the use of initials with beautiful embroidery is very clever.
