I'm interested in same issue. I want to buy the GE cafe slide in until I realized it's not really a slide in (w/overlapping rims). The profile is slide in but doesn't have the baking drawer. Question: we want to put it in a peninsula, with granite around it. Since we would be buying oven before putting in new counters and cabinets, is there a way to build it such to eliminate side and back spaces with counter/granite. I hate the idea of buying a new oven and remodeling and having to grind down feet.

Corian is aluminum oxide (sapphire) loaded plexiglass. Corian can be cut with high surface speed carbide tools such as router bits and high-tooth-count carbide-tipped circular saw blades with plastic cutting profiles. In both cases means are needed (in my view, Corian artisans may differ) to assure (trap) the tool so that it is restrained as to where it can inadvertently go. Anticipate a lot of dust. All cutting tools should be considered sacrificial in the long term. For one-time efforts like this, it would likely be more economical to have a Corian counter specialist do the work unless one is a tool hound and believes that every acquired tool will come in handy sometime in the indefinite future. kas

I have this set up, a wall oven (electric) mounted under a gas cooktop. I did it nearly 20 years ago for a bunch of reasons (and I am 5' tall so oven being low -- suits me fine). Here's why I would not do it again -- it's my understanding that the oven and cooktop must be designed to be installed one on top of the other, and not all products, from all manufacturers, can do this. So...when the inevitable happens, we had to replace both the oven and the cooktop. And then....how to find a cooktop that fits the existing hole in my countertop... (and not sure if you're doing your own work, or where you're located....but where I'm located anyone who can do any kind of work half decently is booked solid into July of 2021. So getting someone out to remove, replace, deal with the gas line which here requires a permit... etc. etc. ... super frustrating). First setup was JennAir; second setup is KitchenAid. I am assuming (since I've never had one, LOL) that a range would be MUCH easier to both install and replace. ETA: and I was terrified if the counter hole needed to be enlarged -- no way to hire someone for such a small job and of course the possibility of it cracking, etc. there's no such thing as standard cooktop hole, at least not when the appliances are purchased 15-20 years apart! I assume you mean your counters are 35" high. 36" is the standard height...what kind of counters do you have? Are they unusually "thin"? Or, are your base cabinets less than the standard height of 34.5" tall? (Just trying to get more info to help.)
