We're done!

Well, it's final! We closed on our old house yesterday without any problems!! It's officially no longer our responsibility. It is SOLD! It's so nice to own only one house again.

My husband and I have sold two houses in six months in two different towns in two very slow markets. My best piece of advice: Don't refuse ANY offer, no matter how ridiculous you think it is or how "offended" you may be by it. A bird in hand is definitely worth more than two in the bush.

Wow -Good news!!! I'm hoping to post something similar soon. Yea...DH/I have looked at 2 offers (offensive, low-ball bids)....but heck we need to sell and move, we've countered and waiting to hear back from them.

I have put some planting on hold until I get moisture we are about 7 inches behind on rain . I worked some seed beds they turn to dust with the wind blowing., going to plant okra and hope for rain. I selected about 20 out of 80 tomatoes and started watering today

Hi, I haven't been on here in a while (since we finished the kitchen). As for the bistro set, it is an old Pottery Barn set - maybe 10 years old. I was going to get something new, but I thought it 'worked' in here. The hardwood is just regular typical hardwood (the usual width - maybe oak?). It was unfinished and then the floor guy stained it when he sanded and refinished the entire house. The backsplash is great. Not one problem. I hardly ever clean it (my cleaning lady who comes every 2 weeks does) and it always looks super. It's weird that it doesn't show stains more. I think it cost about 2000 or so. I had to call different local glass companies. I actually just went through the phone book. We used glasskote http://www.glasskote.com/ and the color is Aqua Pacific. The dining table is from Crate and Barrel - maybe called Basque. It is about 5 years old and bought before the remodel. I am glad it worked in here. The only complaint about the kitchen is the LG dishwasher. I already had to replace the motor ($200) - wasn't covered under warranty. Good luck! Lisa

dldl: granite on island is Blue Pearl. The box the lighting fixtures came in said ORB, but they really are just black. Oldhousegal: Would you believe we just sold our 95 year old Arts and Crafts home, so of course I also love the craftsman style. Although we had put alot of work into renovating the old place, it was just too large (6500') for us, and all the grounds were a never ending job. Thank you for your beautiful thoughts!

Congrats! We will be having 2 houses as of 8/1 and hope the old one sells soon so I can imagine it's a great feeling.

Best of luck in the new home and may your roof never leak, and chipmunks never build a condo complex under your sand patio.

Terrig, Congratulations! We just closed on our home yesterday, too. You are absolutely right about trying to work any offer presented. The first offer we received was insulting, but we countered, they countered back, we countered again and so on until we had a deal acceptable to everyone. We made 95% of our asking price, and we were asking at the top of the range for houses in our area. Timing and prayer, lots of prayer, and our home sold in two weeks. Yeah! We'll sleep like babies tonight!

Thanks for the good wishes. I'll be sticking around...the whole house buying/selling things fascinates me and, now that I have some experience under my belt, perhaps I can offer a bit of advice. I have, however, stopped looking at listings and following the local market! That can become addictive.

terrig, congrats! I've followed your posts because you are from my home area. We are now selling and moving from the Iowa City area, but we (DH and I) were born and raised in the DeWitt and Maquoketa area, respectively. There is no place like Iowa. :)
