LOOKING for: dry hot chocolat mix

I used to make a batch of this every fall when my kids were little. It was made with dry mix, cocoa and probably sugar, but I can't remember the precise amounts. Anyone ever make this?

Used to camp a lot, and this is one I always had in my camper. Excellent!!

HOT CHOCOLATE MIX

1 pck. (25.6 oz.) instant non-fat dry milk (about 10 2/3 cups)
1 jar (6 oz.) powdered non-dairy creamer
4 c. confectioners sugar
2 c. unsweetened cocoa

Mix all ingredients together. Store in an airtight container in a cool dry place. Will keep 6 months.
To make hot chocolate: 3 T. of hot chocolate mix to 1 c. boiling water. Stir to dissolve.
(makes 17 cups of mix)

I dehydrate all my peppers after cutting in half. A mix gives a good bit of flavor I find. In some I leave the seeds, in some I remove the seeds. Kind of depends on who I am drying them for, whether their a wimp or not. You will get much more flavor, and substantially less heat without the seeds though. Mixes made last year included Red Savina, Scotch Bonnet, Jalapeno, Ancho, and a few others that I can't seem to remember without my morning caffeine.

I have a slightly different style: 1/2 cup Paprika 1/3 cup Chili Powder 1/4 cup each Light and Dark Brown Suger (packed) 2 tbs. Onion Powder, Garlic Powder 1 tbs. Cumin Seed 1 tbs. Pepper (I use a 5 Pepper Blend) 1 tbs. Fennel Seed 1 tbs. Orange Zest 1 tsp. salt Batch grind the ingredients in a blade coffee grinder (or use a blender or processor, once you run this in a blade grinder you won't be able to use it for coffee anymore) I generally free pour and don't measure so these are close guesstamates.

Here is what I have come up with add or delete as you like (works great on beef & pork): 1 Cup Sugar 1 Cup Kosher Salt Â¾ Cup Dark Brown Sugar Â½ Cup Turbinado Sugar (sugar in the raw) 4 Tablespoons Hickory Smoke Salt 4 Tablespoons Chili Powder 4 Tablespoons Ancho Chili Powder 4 Tablespoons MSG 2 Tablespoons Sweet Smoked Paprika 2 Tablespoons Cumin 2 Tablespoons Garlic Powder 2 Tablespoons Onion Powder 1 Tablespoon Cayenne Pepper 1 Tablespoon Black Pepper freshly ground (important) 1 Tablespoon Jalapeno Powder 1 Tablespoon Dry Mustard 1 Tablespoon Old Bay Seasoning Mix well in food processor / Store in airtight container.

Hi Cheryl! This one is T and T. I have made it several times. Hot Buttered Rum Mix 1 lb. light brown sugar 1 lb. confectioner's sugar 1/2 lb (2 sticks) butter - room temp 1 qt vanilla ice cream - slightly melted Light rum ground nutmeg Combine the first 4 ingredients with a mixer and store in the freezer. For one drink, put 2 tbsp of ice cream mixture in a mug. Add 1 shot of rum and fill the mug with boiling water. Garnish the top with nutmeg. Enjoy! Stacy

glenda, that is the one I used to make. I wonder if I could substitute equal amount of Splenda for the powdered sugar? I think I'll give it a try.

Thanks to you and Ginger for the recipes. That "mix" website was super!

I was thinking Splenda alone, would make a difference in texture????

Did a search and there's lots with this same recipe.

Splenda Powdered Sugar

Splenda Powdered Sugar

Preparation Time 5 min.
Makes1/2 cup

3/4 cup SPLENDAÂ® Granular
2 Tbsp. Cornstarch

Place ingredients in blender jar. Cover and blend until SPLENDAÂ® Granular is a very fine powder.

Use instead of powdered sugar for garnishing cakes and pastries.

Recipe from Make-A-Mix Karine Eiason, Nevada Harward & Madeline Westover

Hot Chocolate Mix
1(25.6 oz)pkg. instant nonfat dry milk (10 2/3 cups)
1(6 oz)jar powdered nondairy creamer
4 cups powdered sugar
2 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Mix well. Put in a large airtight container. Label with date and contents. Store in a cool, dry place. Use within 6 months. Makes about 17 cups of Hot Chocolate MIX
Per cup: 3 tablespoons hot chocolate mix and 1 cup hot water.
