What's for dinner Friday?

We're having leftover pork from last night. It was the best I've ever made and all you do is stick it in the crockpot with some root beer. Talk about tender! We're also having fried corn and I made a blueberry "cobbler" this afternoon. It doesn't use pie crust, but rather a cake like topping. It's a southern thing, I guess. Looks delicious. I'm so hungry for dinner :-)

Work today but at least it is Fri, 2 days off-yea right. For dinner I tried a new recipe my husband found in one of his men's magazines. It was tuna cakes, very easy to make & he had a salad with them. I had breakfast sausage with home fries. They say we are going to get 3-4" of rain over the next 2 days.

Kayjones: I'll take one of each. Haven't had either one in a long time. Sue: You do eating right by not eating a full meal when you're only hungry for a banana. I'd have to add it to a bowl of oatmeal. lol The bananas haven't looked good in my area lately so haven't bought any for about a month. Jasdip: Your entire meal sounds like something I'd like to try. I'll take a small amount of each. Mary: What did you put in your shells? Ravencajun: I like your kind of soup. I often do that myself. Glenda, nice way for a restaurant to lose customers, huh? You aren't doing so good this week--that's two days in a row for bad dinners. At least yesterday, you got dinner! Seagrass, your meals are likely more tasty than restaurant meals anyway. But it is nice not to have to cook all the time. Sue, sure hope you feel better. I bought some Alka-Seltzer Plus cold med. in case I feel a cold coming on. It works well for me. Chicken soup always helps, too. Jasdip, I was able to eat three saltines with ham salad on top! Woohoo!! Also ate a mug of noodle soup. Of course, I'd rather have your taco salad :-( Isn't it nice to see the sun shining? Mary, I bet 38 did feel like a heat wave after that 19 you had the other morning. I'm waiting until next week to clean. The house stays pretty clean since I'm not cooking. Shirley, I need to make some beef barley soup. It sounds delicious. Glad you had sunshine--it feels so good in the winter. (Guess it isn't winter yet, though.) Jean, you're doing really well with your low-carb meals. You're a saint to fix your DH mashed potatoes when you can't eat them!! Aw Hellion, I'm waitin' for the day I can eat bacon. I think I'll just fry up a whole pound and have at it :-) Georgysmom, I forgot you were in Florida with your GF's. Sure wish you had better weather, but I just know you're having a great time anyway. I'll say a prayer to the weather gods for nice, sunny, warm days the rest of the week.

I'm so glad you were able to eat a bit of food Patti! That's a great sight to see. We ate really late. I decided I wanted to have a pork picnic shoulder that was on sale for dinner. Boiled with potatoes. So we went to the store to get it and I boiled it for about 3 hours. Some potatoes went in the pot and some carrots later on. We just love ham that way. This is the second time I've done it, the first was with green beans. Hubby and I couldn't get enough tonite! :) I've got all this wonderful ham stock and we don't like a ham and pea type soup. But I'm planning to make cabbage soup tomorrow and I'm definitely going to be using some of the stock in that. I think it will taste great. Also I can see it as a base for potato soup for some yummy flavour. So I'd better be freezing the stock.

Marilyn3444 - thank you so much for the recipe. I'll make it soon. I spent the better part of the day prepping for and traveling to and from the hospital for a CT scan. Very chilly and rainy here. Took some pork and kraut I made last month out of the freezer and heated it in the oven. Pan roasted the rest of the "Tiny Potatoes" I got at a Trader Joe's earlier in the week. We had some crusty rolls and whole grain mustard with it all. I'm very tired. Have to wait until Tuesday to hear what is causing this pain. It's hard not to worry.

I have Julie's Wet Burritos in the oven......waiting for some family to get here. I'm also having cucumbers in a cream sauce.

We had a late T-time today. I had to do some grocery shopping after golf and didn't get home until 5:45 and I'm really tired. i was going to make some fish tonight but too tired so I think we'll just have a couple slices of pizza.

found the perfect cut of meat for rouladen.... and bought it. Invited a couple of friends... and now, we are going to have

potatoes

red wine

ice cream for desert. :)

I did some cooking today. For my evening meal, I chose to have meatloaf, baked potato, the skins from that, and creamed corn.

Glenda, is that a new restaurant for you? We found a small bakery run by a Mexican couple and they also serve sandwiches and some Mexican food. I ordered the home-made tamale and it wasn't good at all. Sort of like a Mexican gyro--if you can imagine! This was a while back.

Mary, at least if it rains you won't be working in your own yard and maybe your knee will get some well-deserved rest. Both your meals sound good, but don't you care for tuna? I think I'd rather eat it than fix two meals :-)

Raven, I think we'll have your dinner tomorrow. Sounds good enough to eat--haha!

Phyllis, aren't those wet burritos delicious. I need to make them again if I ever enough stuff eaten from my freezer. One recipe of those yields a lot of meals for us, but they freeze really well. I'd like the cucumber salad with it, too.

Georgysmom, hope your game went well. Once more, the freezer comes to the rescue for one of us!

Moni, glad you found the beef you were looking for--at least I think rouladen is made with beef. Not sure. Have fun entertaining. If someone rings your doorbell, it's probably a carload of KT'ers begging for dinner :-)

Shirley, it's so much easier to cook a few meals in one day. I know recipes will feed us for several meals, so I'm grateful for a Food Saver and a freezer.

We just got back from Bob's Steakhouse. The steak was delicious as usual. They also had the best tapoca pudding on their salad bar. We brought enough home for another meal too.
