PeT scan results . . .

As you all know, I have been going through the process of getting my bone marrow harvested and stored for a transplant down the line. I've been up at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance everyday since last Thursday. I was up there again Friday and they told me that the PeT scan I took on Thursday was positive and that the cancer was growing again. So much for maintenance chemo! ! LOL

My doctor had told me to get up there and get this done last year. We played phone tag for a few months with the financial office and then I just focused on treatment, thinking I had a little time. And I just didn't get to it til this year. I hope that I didn't wait too long. That makes me angry, and upset with my self and a little scared.

I will be getting a protocol called R.I.C.E... I don't have the papers right here, but the R is rituxan and the C is carboplatin. I have to have this done as an inpatient at the hospital for 5 days After the 5 day inpatient treatment, we will do it again in 21 days. . He says we will try 2 cycles and then hopefully that will stop the lymph node growth and we will be able to harvest the bone marrow. Then My regular oncologist and I have to make another plan of attack, since this last chemo didn't work for but 6 months or so. Please pray and cross your fingers for me. it is so strange, because I have never felt better. I was sure hoping to make it for another 35 years! LOL I have faith that I will, I just got the news Friday afternoon. It was not a fun drive home (like it EVER is from Seattle LOL)

Oh, well, just another stumbling block! what 'cha gonna do? I am a little scared this time though. I can't think of $$$ because that makes me ill! I did tell DH to divorce me if that situation gets too bad, I don't want to lose the house! LOL

thanks for all the support you have given me the last years.

I really appreciate it. It's fun to come here and just forget everything and be goofy and have fun. thanks!

Oh my, I pray that everything works out for you. You sound like you have an outstanding outlook. It never ceases to amaze me how many people on here have such crosses to bear and how they deal with them.

Kudos to everyone fighting the good fight with whatever challenge they have in their lives. I admire you all so much for the strength and courage you show. I thank God every single day of my life for my precious family and my health so far.

You can remove 9.x Xp and vista can open Zip files you could uninstall win zip, if you find you need it later reinstall it. You could update apple quick time.

Well, if diverticulitis didn't show up, does that mean other things would have shown up if they had been there? Like growths or abnormalities, Rita? Does the CT scan rule out a bunch of scary stuff? That's what I'm hoping.... That's what we hope, too, Flamey. When the nurse called with the results, I asked about that. She said it would have shown a mass if one was there. ?? (I'm thinking, mass of WHAT? And WHERE?) On Monday, I'll get a chance to visit with the doctor after the procedure, so hopefully we'll know more then and/or I can pin him down on exactly what the CT scan would/would not show.

Glad you've finally gotten some information. I know from my own experiences that even bad news is better than the not knowing and having the medical profession questioning the "reality" of your symptoms. Go easy and give yourself plenty of time to heal. And...if it won't alarm you too much, I'd look up the side effects of the various medicines you take/have taken. I've learned that the medical profession often times isn't too thorough with this type of thing. They swore that my DFL was not experiencing a drug interaction, yet when we got very insistent that the change the 1 med to something else on an temporary basis, all the side effect issues disappeared. Take care yourself. Lisa

D@MND@MNEDCANCER!! Kat I am so sorry another stumbling block (and that's ALL it is) has been placed in your path. I'm sorry you are even having to fight this battle, but I also know you are not fighting it alone! I am holding you in my Prayers and will continue for the next 35yrs.!! *S*

please go with that feeling you have of feeling better and run w/ that...don't worry about what is possible, don't waste precious time (it is precious to everyone as we can't stop forward progress) being down or worried. you need to be positive and think good thoughts while in treatment, be as happy as you can muster even if you fake it, after awhile you won't be. this is just a bump in the road and you can overcome this, just as you have overcome even bigger challenges. RICE is a proven therapy, don't let this development scare you, get w/ support groups w/ members going thru this too. if you have never heard of Louise Hay check her out...she overcame cancer and credits her philosophies w/ healing herself. at the very least it might alleviate some stress.... i am a very intuitive person, i run my life on my intuition, and i am not feeling this how your life is going to be, it can't you have brought yourself thru worse you will persevere. you serve as an inspiration to me w/ you weight loss and i don't even think that is really your purpose, you have not yet met your true purpose...don't give up before the fight starts, we are all here for you 24/7 to help you! ~ liz

I know the disappointment you must feel and the angst because I go through it every time I have that test. You have beaten this thing up until now and I am just going to continue to pray that you and your doctors find the right chemo. Hang in there and remember that renewed health happens every day.

Sorry to hear your news, Kat. With your positive attitude I know you will beat it, especially with all the KT prayers. Let yourself have a good cry, then put all the scary thoughts out of your mind and fight! You have too much to live for, and we need you here. ((((Kat))))

Oh, Kat.....was so sorry to read this. You have such a positive attitude, I know you will get through this latest obstacle thrown your way. ((((kat))))

Sorry they threw you a curve. But I am glad you are feeling so good. It will give you strength if the going gets tough. Keep eating well and doing what you are doing. Get to the library and check out some interesting books for your upcoming hospital stay. Keep up the positive attitude-it really makes a difference I think. Just think 'room service' and no housework. Might as well think of any bright side to this.

I was hoping for better news, too, but oh, Kat, we'll be here for you and continue to send our best prayers and healing thoughts. We all admire your wonderful attitude so much, and are grateful to you for the many times you make us laugh and brighten our days.

thank you so much, everyone~ Liz, I will check that site out...

Jenn, and Kath, I'm going to have the RICE down here in Oly.
I will have inpatient down here. My transplant Dr. from the Hutch/scca agreed that it would work just great down here. so much easier for DH and DS. I will still go back up there for the harvest. Yes, the SCCA/Fred Hutch are world class. I am lucky.
