Does the warranty say anything about what they will do if there product malfunctions. It would be in the small print part that you can't read without a magnifying glass. There might be something in there about limiting their liability although I doubt it. It sounds like the manufacturer is at least responsive and trying to work something out with you. Have you heard anything back from them yet? When our refrigerator leaked and damaged our parquet floor, the manufacturer couldn't care less. Luckily, we waited because after a few weeks, the wood returned to normal. But I don't think that happens with laminate. I have heard that once laminate gets wet, that's it for it.

True, and here's a translation: in some states, parts of the warranty might be invalid. So just because it says X in the warranty, that doesn't necessarily mean X is true. You might want to call your state's bureau of consumer protection (if you have one, i.e. if you're in a blue state, haha).

If the DW warranty does not cover replacement your homeowner's insurance policy probably does as long as it was a "sudden" discharge of water and not a slow leak over time. In fact, the insurance company can replace the floor (will probably do the whole downstairs), you pay deductible and the insurance company will decide whether or not to pursue the warranty. Meanwhile, your floor is replace and they hash it out with the DW folks. Good luck.

This same thing happened to me. Here is what happened. The dishwasher leaked, causing about $20,000 in damage to the floors and base cabinets. Our homeowners policy took over and gave us the money to replace the damaged items. The insurance company then negotiated with Jenn-Air after it was found that a design flaw with the dishwasher was the cause of the leak. Since Jenn-Air admitted fault, the insurance company recieved the entire amount from Jenn-Air, plus refunded our deductible.

So far I am working with a claim rep with the manufacturer about repairing the floor. When my contractor called the rep (we've lived in the house for less than a year) to tell him the flooring was discontinued, the rep balked and claimed he didn't have to repair the whole floor.

I did contact my insurance co and explained the whole situation and she suggested going as far with the manufacturer as I can to get the issue resolved. If it cannot be resolved, then I can submit a claim to the insurance co and they will do essentially what happened with cleo_2007.

ideagirl2 - I do live in a blue state :-) and I did call my attorney general's office. They told me to submit a complaint with them, and I did. I haven't heard anything though.
