I saw the photos online on Friday afternoon. HUGE cake, but I like the design. There were something like 600 people invited to the reception, so they needed a massive cake!

That is the first pic I've seen of the cake. Was there a pic of the cutting of the cake;if so I missed that too.

They don't stick around long when they come to feed. You may have them and not know it. Also... here they seem to come to the feeder most often about an hour before sunset, and just about sunrise. They will come and stay at the feeder anywhere between 10 seconds and a minute and then split. Might come back a few times with about a 10 to 15 minute interval. Keep the sugar water fresh or they will not return.

Finally saw a hummingbird this afternoon. I guess it's not that late but I was a little worried that I wouldn't have any this year. I also saw a Baltimore Oriole this afternoon. That's about a week earlier than last year. He went to one of my hummingbird feeders but I didn't see him on the Oriole feeder yet. I put orange slices in my dogwood tree a couple days ago but they're looking a little dry.

You're talking about craft supply stores - OF COURSE they have Christmas stuff out! This isn't your local grocery or department store decorated at the end of June. Crafters and quilters who sell, make gifts, etc, DO NOT start after Thanksgiving. They need the stuff now, and I know many who were looking in April. Unbunch the panties - if you're shopping at a craft or fabric store, just close your eyes and walk on by. They have this stuff out because it sells at this time of year.

Probably was plenty of cake, Joann. Underneath that gorgeous frosting was----fruitcake! Not a favorite of most people.

I'd say Americans don't care for fruit cake, but I have the impression that most Brits do.
