I so love that dr, think I've seen it around before. I don't think it would go with your new drapes though. Something bold like that would be striking and stand up to your kitchen color, though. Maybe a gold with more brown in it? How would you describe the drape color? Pretty much looks like a beige from the photo.

Are you thinking of breaking it up with chair rail, as in the inspiration pic?

Could it be either Stuart Gold or Bryant Gold by Benjamin Moore?

My drapes are much golder than what they appear. They are JCPenney's soft gold. supremes.

I am so confused right now. I love that dining room, and I that is the look I am aiming for. Would I go lighter or darker than the drapes? As for the chair rail, not yet, but hopefully in the near future.

I will be spending my day tomorrow at the paint stores.

If you know the source of the photo, from say a magazine, they can often tell you what the resources for the room were.

The pic shows the walls a bit darker than the drapes. Although the corner looks to be in shadow, you're looking at what you like, so it doesn't matter : )

Yes, could be BM Stuart Gold. That's what I have in my dining room, although mine is a very informal room.

It's very hard to match colors. Have you considered color matching the drapes at Sherwin Williams? They can give you a list of the colors closest to the drapes, and then you could pick one that is a little lighter or darker than the drapes. I did that to color match trim paint to my factory painted windows.

I love that gold dining room too. If it were me, I'd take a drapery panel to the paint store and get something not that matches it, but that compliments it well.

Here's the inspiration gold, which really just doesn't go with your carpet or drapery colors. Two swatches from the insp pic wall are pasted onto your study pic (left wall).

Using the more neutral, serious color of your drapes and carpet, in a saturated gold, doesn't have the same feeling at all as your insp room, so I tried to find a gold/yellow that still looked happy and bright but also mixed with the drapes, carpet, and kitchen/runner color. Probably not at all what you want, but this was one that works.

Not sure you'd want to do traditional crown and/or chair rail, since your architecture is so contemporary. I'm sure there are some fine examples around, though, using the right style of mouldings : )

More gold, not too serious.

I have a similar gold in my foyer, l/r and d/r. I also have the same soft gold color sheers that you have pictured. I don't think the picture shows the true color. I picked my wall color first and then found that staying somewhat monochromatic with the sheers made for a great look. If you want gold, take a sheer to the paintstore and have them mix it one shade darker (a quart to to try)!

You might try the Laura Ashley golds. Also, someone posted a gold dining room in the yellow/gold posts on the gallery that was a gorgeous color -- Eddie Bauer Bungalow Gold. Both Laura Ashley and Eddie Bauer paints are at Lowes.

squirrel has an excellent point. I remember awhile back when someone on here painted their house in a beautiful gold/yellow color (think it was restrained gold). The problem was it didn't match the carpet or tile, so they ended up repainting in Lenox Tan. It's hard to tell the exact shade of your curtains, but I'm still thinking something like Wilmington Tan or Lenox Tan, although I have a feeling you may consider those boring :)

They're just Squirrel-y mixes. They're not really boring, I don't think. Just not at all the mood you're after. It also doesn't seem to jive with the colors or feeling of your more vibrant, tropical and happy colors in the fr/kitchen area (or insp pic! : ) Curious, though, since you have chosen the brown-gold drapes and maybe the carpet color, which seems to have some gray to it. I think those selections would be difficult to do a vibrant/tropical room color with.

I agree with some of the others, I would take the curtain to your paint store and possibly look at having it color matched but have it done a shade darker or lighter. I have seen some pics of Bungalow Gold and LA Gold #4 and they are both beautiful colors. Maybe one of those would work well your cutains

The drapes are JCP supreme antique satin pinch pleats. The color is called, soft gold.

I am off to the stores now, with one drape and two fingers crossed.
