I have no other plans, so I 'spect I'll be in the sewing room as much as possible! Which is good since I've been a lazy lima bean all week. DH needs to get up at 6:15 for work, which means I have to get up at 6:15. Usually I spend that extra morning hour riding my exercise bike or doing a little sewing - this week I've been lying in bed playing games on my iPad. :)

I finished knitting the baby blanket Monday night but haven't gotten motivated to start sewing the sections together yet, which means I've been sitting on the couch playing games on my iPad in the evenings!

See - lazy lima bean. Gotta get out of that rut!

Wednesday 24th I finished hand-quilting Christy's grandbaby quilt. Been working on her quilt since March so I am taking a break today, and maybe tomorrow and work on my Grandma's embroidery pillowcases and maybe read part of a good book. Hoping Saturday to cut the binding for Christy's quilt so I can start hand-sewing it on next week.

I need to quilt this weekend, but we'll see.

DH & DS are leaving in the morning for cub scout camp for the weekend...home Sunday afternoon. Friday I spend shopping and cleaning to get ready for a 12 yo's birthday party, complete with 5 girls sleeping over!! (You'll notice this was scheduled while Dad was out of town?!?) Saturday I recover for a few hours, then take the 3 girls to a girl scout pool party. Saturday night/Sunday morning I get the oldest ready for a week at girl scout camp. I drop her off Sunday afternoon before Dad gets home. (It will be a week from Sunday before everyone is in their own beds again!)

In the next few nights, I hope to get my niece's quilt quilted. I loaded it on the frame last night, so just need to load bobbins & place pantograph and get on my way. It's going to get the faux piping binding, so that will go quickly by machine afterwards. It must get done SOOON!

Another busy weekend for me....

Spent all of today (off and on, with breaks to rest my back) quilting the Jan. quilt. Thought I would be able to stretch it out over a couple of days but last minute company Sat. and Sunday. So marathon today. And binding next week.
Donna, any good games on your IPad? I am getting tired of Solitaire.

Hope to get some time in the sewing room...I've got another new idea I want to try...that along with finishing my challenge quilt should take the weekend up...
I am feeling better about the challenge quilt...I kept changing my mind on the design so much I was getting frustrated, but alas, I finally settled down.

Working the weekend, but I am going to the sit and sew tomorrow... and carpooling with 2 other ladies who live in the area for the first time. I know it will be a lot more fun to ride with them than alone, but I don't know how we are going to fit 3 people/machines, projects, and food in 1 car! I'm not driving, one of the other ladies is, so we will just have to make it work. Normally I don't like being separated from my car because I like my independence, but I don't mind leaving whenever they are ready... this is a causal thing.

I am just about to start a batch of carrot cake cookies to bring for pot luck...

I've been working on sewing the binding on the Rail Fence quilt that I started last September and I'm rather enjoying sitting in front of the TV and hand sewing... I used to dread that, but I'm really getting the hang of it and it's going well.

I don't know if I shared a picture here or not already, but I made this little mini-pillow for a co-worker and she just loved it.... I was really just playing with the machine, but it was nice to give her something she appreciated. And she's not a sewer so she didn't notice the imperfections :o) I did a pieced border and I really perfected the technique of sewing a pillow closed so it is not detectable (thanks to a great Youtube tutorial)... I've always struggled with that in the past.

BTW, as an aside... Gardenweb has fixed the issue that they had where when using their photo uploader, if you edited text after uploading the picture, you lost the picture and had to upload it all over again... I just attached this picture and then wanted to add some text and the photo remained attached... when they first launched this, the photo disappeared and you had to load it all over again if you made any changes to the text and hit preview...

I'm thoroughly addicted to "Ticket to Ride". It's a board game that I learned a couple of years ago and loved. When my kids came home a couple of Christmases ago they told me about the ipad version and we loved it. Since I don't have an ipad I play it incessantly on my iPhone.

It has one major drawback....addiction!

I shall have my three year old g'son this weekend through the days, so his daddy can do some farm work he couldn't during the rains. So, LOL, that may squelch much quilting as he is a great little guy but busy and curious. The gardens are calling me for the same reason the farm work is calling my son. I had to sit out weeks of rain. I am working on a Chinese lantern quilt now and trying to knock out a couple blocks a day, usually the first thing I do each day with my morning cuppa. That's rapid enough progress. I already did two this a.m. but in summer, am so physically spent by nighttime that I don't quilt then.

Nice pillow, Bobby. I had something I was going to ask you, but it's gone now......sigh. I think you'll have fun carpooling. You can ask Kate and Rosa how it was to be smushed up with me, 3 machines and suitcases for the retreat last year. More fun than driving separately or flying...except for Kate's machine falling out. ::-))

I'm hoping to finish up getting the color crumb blocks together this week-end. Have had to empty the pantry....again. I have no idea where these tiny ants are coming from unless they have a nest behind the wall and we sure hate to have to take the wall out, but it might come to that. I'm not sure if they're sugar ants or not, but they seem to like Ritz crackers more than anything else! I even had them in a plastic lidded container. So, caulking corners and edges this week.

I will be piecing - but mornings only. It gets too hot in my garage studio in the afternoon.

I'm working on a quilt for our guest air-bed, since I like to cover all guests with a quilt, LOL. Christmas this year we will have very dear stepson John, his wife Yoko, and their two children, and our son Paul and his girlfriend all at the same time.

Anyway, this is a large queen-sized quilt, but a very simple alternating nine-patch in blue and white.

No sewing for me - and won't get any in until the 12th. We are picking up our 2 exchange students tomorrow, one from Germany, one from Italy. They will be with us until the 20th of August. We will be busy bbqing, going to Water World, the county fair & rodeo, a Rockies baseball game, biking, hiking, visiting Rocky Mtn National Park ... Phew! I am tired and they aren't even here yet!
They do go off to camp for 6 days on the 11th, so I will get to go to my church quilt group and get some sewing in.

Don't know how much I will even get to check in here, so everyone have a good couple of weeks!

Just got back in from the sit and sew... nearly 1:30 AM! I don't know what most other 29 year old guys do on Friday nights, but I doubt it's as much fun as I have quilting and chatting with a bunch of fun old ladies...

My day before the sit and sew was just terrible... the carrot cake cookies turned out awful... the were flat and stuck to the the parchment paper, and then I knocked my beloved vintage food processor off the counter and the power button broke off... I'm so sad about it, but I've already been pricing the same model I had on Ebay... I threw the cookies out and went to Publix and bought a carrot cake to take instead!

The lady who was driving arrived to pick me up and she even helped me carry my stuff out to her car (and I showed her the last batch of cookies that were still stuck to the cookie sheet and we had a laugh)... then we picked up the other lady and just had a fabulous time talking in the car... when we got to the sit and sew, there were 19 people there! Last week there was only about 7, so it was a much different experience, but we all squeezed in... there was so much food and we all made pigs of ourselves :o) I was even able to drink this time (they always have wine, but I never drink because I'm usually driving)... I decided I'd better hand sew if I was going to drink so that I didn't have to make a trip to he sewing machine repair shop again. I worked on the binding some more, but again, with all the talking and laughing, I only got about 4 stitches done once again. Someone noticed a stray dog come almost get hit by a car in front of the house and one of the ladies took it home with her for the night until they could try to locate the owner (it had a tag, but the tag only had the number of the vet and not the owner)... As we were leaving, we noticed a man walking down the street with a flashlight and asked him if he was looking for a dog and he was, so obviously it was the owner and he will get it back tomorrow...happy ending!

Practically everybody who goes to the sit and sew is a nurse and they knew that's what I wanted to go to school for so one of the ladies gathered a bunch of nursing books to give me... very sweet...

The ride home was nice as well and filled with even more fun conversation... I'd nearly forgotten about my poor food processor and those dreadful cookies by the time the night was over :o)

Hope the weekend is great for everyone and that you all get a lot of sewing done.

Btw, Donna, I was addicted to a few games too... I couldn't put down Draw Something for the longest time and I also like the hidden objects games. I can understand completely how time consuming becoming enraptured in those games can be....

Breakfast has been served, and quiet will rein around 11am when pickup time arrives.

I just finished several hours of sewing: 4 6-inch maple leaf blocks and 16 flying geese for our next Round Robin exchange in September. So CHECK that one off my to-do list!

It's almost 5 PM and I am ready for a nap. The aging mini poodle got me up at 5:07 AM this morning and would not let me get any more sleep. Don't know what his problem was.....almost as bad as slumber party non-sleep, Jennifer!

Tomorrow I will work some more on the wedding quilt and maybe try to sew on our QF challenge.

My weekend did not go exactly as planned, but getting it back on track. I just finished cutting out the binding for Christy's grandbaby quilt. So I will be sewing that by hand this week. Hope everyone is having a good weekend. We have been getting a lot of rain recently.
