Any plans for Mothers Day?

Supposed to rain here this weekend, probably will have the kids over and grill something. Anyone else have plans?

No plans here on Mother's Day, but will celebrate several birthdays and Mother's Day the Sunday following. We will have a Mother Daughter banquet the night before Mother's Day and since we did the decorating for it will have to stay and gather up all the decorations, so will be too tired for fixing a meal for everyone on Mother's Day.

No plans for Sunday, but as Marilyn Sue just mentioned we are going to the "All Daughter's Banquet" tonight at the church. Used to be called The Mother Daughter Banquet but they wanted to include everyone this year who is or was a daughter.

Plans are not made yet for us - usually DS, DIL, and GS take me out to breakfast with DH. Last year we then went to our local children's park to play with GS. Then they go to her parent's house for her Mother's Day. However, this year is special because my son's birthday falls on Mother's Day. He will be turn 32 and is my one and only child. My husband and I had infertility problems and I ended up having surgery so that I could get pregnant. We tried for 7 years to have a child and lost 2 in miscarriages. I got pregnant a month after surgery to my doctor's surprise. Had a wonderful pregnancy, had him by C-section. Never used birth control again and never got pregnant again! So he is my miracle baby and whatever he wants to do Sunday, we will do! After all, I told him, I wouldn't be a Mom without him!

I am late finishing my Mother's towels so I am finishing that today and will visit with her this afternoon. I lost track of time when we had a few unexpected events in the fam. They are turning out really cute but I don't like waiting until the last minute to finish gifts. My DD and 2 DGDs will vist from FL on Tuesday. Some of the fam took Mom to eat at 11 this morning, I feel the same about the MD crowds so I didn't go, DH and I went to Hardee. I plan to invite them over for dinner when my DD gets here. Hopefully I can play with the Orange Crush mystery later. I really need to clean!!!!! Happy Mothers day, relax and enjoy. Rosa

Sure I'll share my recipe. I wouldn't have it if someone hadn't shared with me. RHUBARB SQUARES Base 2 cups flour 1/2 cup + 2T powdered sugar 1 cup margarine or butter Blend with mixer. Pat into 9x12 pan. Bake at 350 for 15 mins Have topping ready to pour on base when it comes out of oven. Topping 4 eggs beaten 2 cups sugar 1/2 cup flour 1/2 t. salt 1 1/2 t. baking powder 4 cups chopped rhubarb Mix together and pour over base. Bake 50-60 mins until brown. Enjoy !!! I love it.

Heck yea Kathy, Move over! I'm with ya. Actually I am in a dilemma over Mother's Day. On Saturday my life long friend (we met the summer before kindergarten) is having a baby shower (her first - FINALLY). The shower is in a a town halfway between my town and my moms. I'm 85 miles from my mom. I want to just go from the shower on to my moms Saturday night. That way I can spend The day with my mom and my grandma. Really the draw is my grandma. I can't imagine I'll have many more with her. But, I too have kids that always want to make me stay in bed while they and their father make me breakfast. They always make a big show out of it. It really makes them so happy to do that and like mentioned above, they wont want to do that much longer. I'm so torn. (thumping head on desk)

We can invite any women we wish to our banquet. Just try to let them know so they will know how much food to have fixed.

Think of us who will be working. I am a mother and will be working from 6;30 until about 2;30 cooking for all of the people who want to go out to eat. I don't know yet what we will be doing afterwards. We have a 3 m3at buffet with salad bar and dessert for 9.95. In a town of about 700 and we get really busy.

DH has asked me to cook lunch for his mother "because if we go to a restaurant the food will be mass produced and expensive". It seems to have escaped his notice that I am a mother too :-(

Our two local kids are coming down with their families. My older son turns 37 on Mother's Day, so we are taking him out to dinner at a fancy restaurant he has requested. He and his wife are cooking a brunch for us and his sister's family as his gift to me. I love it when he cooks, something he took up after he left home. Then our daughter will head home so that she will have the kids and SIL in bed at a decent hour before work and school the next day.

Forecast predicts that the rain will stop early sunday morning. I hope so. I'll be delivering some flowers to my mom. Then, my siblings and I are taking several mothers, including ours, to lunch.

Pianolady2008, wow, your mom is 97, how wonderful! I like Cracker Barrel too. I love the fact that breakfast is served all day.

We went out for brunch last weekend, knowing the crowds would be crazy. We'll do something additional on Sunday. I'm going to buy her the typical orchid corsage. Wish it wasn't white. Sure miss GranMrs (mom's mother).

Colleen. that is priceless and so true, I'm sure, although DH's mother is gone, after living 1 month shy of 100. We're getting together with DD# at the home of DD#2, after church.
