Another UFO off my list. (pic1)

I dragged this quilt top out of the drawer and quilted it up to give to my son for his office sofa. It was a mystery quilt done at a guild retreat several years ago and I liked the colors so much.

It's the first mystery quilt I've ever done that turned out well. I usually just put them away disgusted, and now won't do mysteries anymore without seeing a picture of the finished idea so I can choose better fabric. But this one surprised me.

This will be a nap quilt for a child waiting for Dad to get done with his work.

I like the colors also - perfect for a nap quilt! I really like your rounded edges on the binding!

I am sure they both will enjoy the quilt.

So happy for you. There aren't all that many hummers around Central Florida, but perhaps we can increase the numbers by planting more hummer-friendly plants. As you know I have many in my yard and have been enjoying them for years. Congratulations. Tom

Paula, Thank you for the offer but I don't collect gobs and gobs of seeds. I just collect a few seed heads of things I think others might like to grow and a few for myself for the next year if they are annuals. I shouldn't say this here on the garden web but I toss most seeds in the trash as I am cleaning up my gardens ( take a deep breathe, stop gasping...lol). I think this year I will collect more than usual because I feel like a cheap skate when I see some of the other seed packets in swaps...lol I have added the petunias to your gift package and again, thank you for the offer. Another UFO uses up homespuns! (pic)

These are 6" finished blocks, on a rail fence background which is three strips 2" wide finished. You could do a solid single piece background and make any shape of star (or other) you wanted. It is hand applique for the star. It works well for watching TV being small blocks. Homespuns are very soft and easy to stitch. I ironed down the seam allowances and used spray startch so needle turn was easier. Stars don't have to be perfect anyway. It's all straight edges and points can be blunt if that's easiest for you. Great quilt.
I looked at your other post with the pic showing the closeup of the quilting.
I am with the others...I love the swoops.
I also like the dotted fabrics you used.
I have always liked small-dot fabrics. I think your fabrics give the quilt a comfortable, cozy feel.

I'm with you on the mystery quilts, but this one did turn out good. Did you go with the colors they suggested? It's for sure a cozy nap quilt! Quilting is great!

It's great! Nice "masculine" look to it. I also like the rounded corners.

I have never done a mystery quilt because I like to know the results as well but this one turned out great. Interesting pattern and the fabric choices are perfect. Would like to know more about the rounded corners they look like fun way to go. Very nice. TFS

That is really striking. The dots are so subtle the fabrics almost read as solids. Very nice indeed.

This is a really cheerful quilt. Primary colors with white always looks fresh and upbeat. Your quilting is beautiful. Congrats on finishing a UFO.
