how do i do window treatments for this window?

this is my daughter's room in progress. she'll need a blackout shade of some sort, but i don't know how to treat this window with the silly curve at the top. any suggestions or pictures?

Remember NOT to leave any dangling cords where little hands can get to them. As for the window, I've usually seen this type of window w/top left open and panels on the sides, either stationary or on rigs to open/close.

I think the easiest solution would be to just hang a rod above the entire window unit and hang two panels with black out fabric as the liner. During the day, you'll still be able to enjoy the window and at night the whole thing is covered.

I wouldn't go with a plain fabric but something such as what Jodie White posted on the right - something with some texture or as kelleg69 suggested, a geometric pattern that is a tone on tone. You also really need to think long and hard about how you feel about colour. If you do like colour you could try a yellow/grey pattern or an aqua/grey or cherry red/grey (ok that might be a little out there). Do you have some ideas as to what colours you will have as an accent in towels, mats, etc.

Also those are the old rods from the previous owner that I plan to take down and make wider so the curtains are off to the side in the correct spot.

Usally the top is left open. But if light is a issue, you can have a cellular shade made to fit into the opening. Cellular shades work out well on this type of window. You can get either one to cover both windows for a clean look, and better light control. Or 2 so you can have one up and one down if you want.
