I've had both rollout shelf and drawers, and drawers win. My old c.1961 kitchen had lower cabinets with a rollout shelf on the bottom and a fixed half-shelf on top(kitchen came to us that way). I thought this was great until I switched to drawers in the remodel. What an improvement! I measured the largest stockpot and made the bottom drawer deep enough. All saucepans, stockpots, and skillets live in drawers under my cooktop, each with its own lid on top. My largest roasting pan is in the big, deep cab over the fridge, and my cookie sheets and commonly used baking/roasting pans are in a thin lower cab.

I have the 24" micro drawer. It is the same micro with less side trim than the 30" drawer. They made the 30" first and showed it stacked with an oven, WD or range --that's apparently how they thought it would sell and why they made 30" fist. I think the 24" has been the more popular model from what I've seen. Mine is the original version, but I understand there is a newer version that is about an inch or so taller. That could make the difference whether certain tall mugs would fit, but most things on plates adn in casseroles - the kinds of things I generally put in a micro, fit fine. My WD opposite the cooktop works fine for us. I'd rather have the WD there and the micro on the main wall if you could do that.

BTW....what size/type refrigerator are you planning? Counter-depth? Standard depth? SxS? Bottom Freezer w/FD? Other? How wide, tall, & deep is the refrigerator alcove? Is it at least 36" wide if the alcove is no more deeper than 24" or so? If it's deeper than 24" or so, is it at least 42" deep? Is it at least 72" high>? I'm asking b/c... (1) I want to be sure you have enough room to open the refrigerator door(s) fully. If the alcove is so deep that it's deeper than the refrigerator's carcass/box, then you will need some filler b/w the wall & refrigerator to allow the door(s) to open fully (well past 90 degrees). In this situation, 4" to 6" is probably enough. You could install a 4" broom closet b/w the wall & refrigerator if you need extra space. (It doesn't have to be a broom closet...it could have peg board to allow you to hang various things.) (2) Refrigerators are starting to standardize on a 36" width & 72" height so you should plan for the future. It's getting more & more difficult to find a refrigerator narrower & shorter than 36"x72". Finally, is the cabinet above the refrigerator full-depth? If you aren't already doing so, have the room, & it's not too late, I recommend "building in" the refrigerator. It looks more finished when it's built-in. To build-in the refrigerator, put a 3/4" or so finished end panel on the side of the refrigerator that is not against the wall. The panel should be as deep as the refrigerator carcass/box sticks out from the back wall. Then, b/w the wall and end panel above the refrigerator, mount either a full-depth "over the refrigerator cabinet" or pull a standard-depth cabinet forward so it looks full-depth. july- I have the pot rack you posted. I posted a thread back in march asking if anyone had it and liked it. Didn't get a ton of response, but the ones I got were favorable. So I went ahead and ordered it. Now 9 months later, my kitchen reno still hasn't started. I couple months ago I asked my DH to install it into the existing cabinet where we keep our pots and pans. Before I had this rack, I had to make sure my cats were out of the room as the noise of extracting a pot from the jumble was very loud and scared the *cat food* out of them. Anyway, I LOVE IT! Life changing. My pots and pans have a specified slot to go into, it's not loud to take them out. It's just great. Now, my 2 (13") largest pans do not fit in it, but the majority do fit. I will just have to find some place to store those really big pans, which is no big deal. In my current kitchen I have it installed so that you have to open the (existing) doors and then pull out. New kitchen will have it installed with a panel in front like in the picture you posted.
