Help me decide on sink & faucet color

My kitchen cabinets are cream with subtle mocha glazing. The knobs are ORB, my appliances are stainless. I'm trying to figure out if a white sink would clash with the cream cabinets? I've also considered a dark copper sink but wonder if that will look dated after awhile? Another option is a stainless steel sink. Now should the faucet be stainless steel to match the appliances or should it be ORB to match the cabinet knobs? If you have photos to show I would appreciate it!!

Have you considered a Silgranit Sink? Many of us, including myself swear by them and if you do a search for Silgranit you'll find a lot of information. In regards to the finish, for the faucet I went with Brushed Nickel for a few reasons, 1. I have heard many times over that depending on the brand, types of cleaners you use and so on, the finish comes off after time. 2. I wanted to stay with something I new was more timeless & not what can be considered a trend and 3. It works with any color scheme and 4. I couldn't justify the higher pricing for it. We've been really happy with the Brushed Nickel, so much so we're also going to use it in the master bath we're doing.

A footnote about the sink, I removed a 2 year old stainless for the Silgranit. Got ours in black and will never have anyother kind of sink again. Depending on your counter color they also have a really pretty cafe brown, a silvery grey and creamy white. I've heard about some staining with the white, but again you may want to research this to see cause I honestly don't have any information to say for sure. Good luck!

lukkiirish: Actually I was just now researching the Siligranit Sinks and pretty much sold on them! I just have to figure out the color and style. I will be doing Santa Cecila granite counters.

I'd go with the nickel finish to pull out the beautiful silver in your granite. I think the ORB would get lost with the granite. I think the black sink would look great with your granite! Just my 2 cents worth, go with what you feel comfortable with! Good Luck!

single or double bowl sink...help me decide

I thought I wanted a large single sink like everybody else. Afterall that's what a lot of people on GW claim to love. But then I had my doubts. I never was totally sold on the idea. Mainly because we actually do fill up the sink with soapy water quite often. Maybe this is because I've never had a $1200 dishwasher. I don't trust my delicate glasses in the cheapo dishwasher nor do I like the way the plastics don't dry. And of course I always handwash all of my knives. So I became skeptical of the one sink concept and the inconvenience of having to drag out a dishpan every night after dinner. It was like a lightbulb went on in my head when I realized that I belonged to the double sink camp regardless of what is popular. We haven't built yet, but I actually felt a sense of relief when I decided we'd do a double sink with a low divide. We handwash knives every night and only wash cookie sheets about 5 times a year. Always think about your personal needs and style of doing things.

I got the medium bowl. It goes in next week. The low divide was exactly what we were looking for. I'm not sure what the advantage of the Super Single Bowl would be over the medium bowl. One thing I'm going through is the width (front-to-back) of my countertop to fit the sink. It gets quite cramped -- we are thinking of lengthening our countertop by 1 - 1.5 inches to give more room for the faucet and other accessories. I think the Super Single Bowl is 0.5 inches wider than the medium bowl -- it might be an issue (at least you need to consider the type of faucet you get so you don't hit your hand against the backsplash).

I have a Brizio waiting to be installed. It is very heavy and very sturdy. Don't know if this is relevant, but my plumber told me that the quality of faucets sold in HD or Lowes is very different than the quality of faucets sold at a plumbing supply house. He told me to find the same brand faucet at both places, hold each in my hand, and I would absolutely feel the difference. I didn't actually do that (we wanted to get our faucet from his supplier anyway) but I do feel confident that my Brizio is very solid and very well built and it does come with a lifetime warranty I believe!! That's Wonderful! You won't be disappointed! If you're going to order from online, you may want to check out Faucet Depot, their pricing was the most reasonable the last time I spoke to someone about these sinks. I ordered ours from Home & Stone last October and they were wonderful to work with as well. They packed it really securely, they shipped it really fast and they include the shipping charges into the price. Blanco makes a similar model for Home Depot, so if you want to see a sample of what the material feels like you can see them there. It's not 100% the same, lower grade, but at least you'll get the jest. They also carry Blanco Silgranit sinks at The Great Indoors. I was a little worried about having a black sink, but as it turns out, our granite is Verde Peacock and it sort of just disappears into the back ground. And it cleans sooo easy. Soap and water is all I use, and even though we have really hard water, water spots haven't been a problem.

I have the double basin with the larger deeper one on one side. It's a perfect fit for our needs because the larger sink easily accomodates soup pots and large pans, but we still have a separate basin smaller basin with the garbage disposal in it to wash dishes off for the dishwasher.

How nice, with the Santa Cecilia you have a couple of different options, Athracite or Cafe maybe, I bet even the silver would look nice. I've seen it with the Anthracite and it looks amazing but with the mocha glazing on your cabinets, you may want to go for the Cafe which IMHO has a very rich look to it.

I know this is probably more info that you were bargaining for, but one last tidbit, be sure to check your box the minute you get it. There have been some people who's sink was damaged during shipping and if you don't check it within a couple of days, some places make it harder to exchange. Ok...so there you go! You'll have to let me know what you decide on, either way I'm sure it will look amazing! Good Luck!

I have a silgranit also. The color is biscuit, not white and would go great with a creamy cabinet. I know there's been a lot of questions about whether white & biscuit stain and in my opinon the biscuit is awesome! Take this from a family who peels veggies, dumps coffe & tea and even dyes hair in the sink!!!

I only use Barkeeper's Friend on the sink about once a week. All I learned, I learned right here on the forum when I had the very same quesion. GWer's rock.

I was leaning toward the black silgranit sink. Do you think it would look good with the santa cecilia granite?

ideamom, if your cabs are creamy colored and your granite is lighter-mid toned, I think a black sink might look at of place. I'd match the sink color to granite which means an off white. That's just my opinion. god knows I'm not a decorator though . ;-)
