Kohler or Brizo for prep sink - help me decide

I have selected a Kohler Vinnata kitchen sink faucet K-690 for my main sink, which is in front of a large window. I'm trying to decide on my prep sink faucet, on the island facing the center of the kitchen (more visible).

I could either do a smaller version, exactly the same as this Kohler. Or, I could choose a Brizo Tresa, which I find more attractive.

The question is: do the two looks go OK together or should I just stick with the smaller of the same Kohler? And, if you think the different looks are OK, will it matter if the finishes are slightly off?

(I'm choosing the Kohler for the main sink for sure, mostly because I have one now and love how it functions... )

I have a Brizio waiting to be installed. It is very heavy and very sturdy. Don't know if this is relevant, but my plumber told me that the quality of faucets sold in HD or Lowes is very different than the quality of faucets sold at a plumbing supply house. He told me to find the same brand faucet at both places, hold each in my hand, and I would absolutely feel the difference. I didn't actually do that (we wanted to get our faucet from his supplier anyway) but I do feel confident that my Brizio is very solid and very well built and it does come with a lifetime warranty I believe!! SQ

Kohler. For two reasons.

1. I like a busier faucet like yours to have a prep sink that matches. Otherwise, its too much for me. But thats just me. You asked. ;)

2. My plumbing showroom assistant steered me away from Brizio after I was hugely disappointed with Delta's chrome quality on the outside and the valves inside. She said if I didn't like Delta, I wouldn't like Brizio either.

breezygirl - what is wrong with the chrome quality? Does it fall apart? I too was going to go with Kholer's Vinnata, but after many people said the pull down faucet loosens after awhile and never fully clicks in, I chose Brizo's Talo (we haven't bought it yet). I LOVE the magnetic click. So now... I'm wavering.

So pretty!!! Just for the shape, I like the hexagonal sink best. I don't think it has enough bottom to drain ratio though. Okay for a bar, but not so much for prep. The square ones are better that way, even though the rounds sound nicer for a corner. I decided against copper because the shiny spots from fruit acids would make me nuts, but copper is so pretty!!! And functional. I can't wait to oooh over your pictures. :)

Thanks for advice so far. The kitchen design is not final, I was just trying to look at options and recommendations for sinks so I knew what was possible and best recommendations for next meeting with kitchen design person. I do have a long wall that the sink, range with be on, but also have a lot of stuff to fit on that wall so not sure could actuatlly have 4-5 ft on the left of range top. The range top is 48 inches, also the wall ovens have to go on that wall, and on the other side of wall ovens will be tall pantry cabinets as I have no place for walk in pantry in this house remodel. So storage space is important, but so is prep space as I also do not have enought width in room to do an island and have adequate walk space around island.

I have a similar layout, and I chose this sink: The Franke GNX11016 I, too, put mine on the corner of the island to access from both sides, with a corner placement of the faucet. I really wanted it symmetrical. I love this sink! The sink is symmetrical, with a corner drain placement, nice and deep, big enough for my largest stock pots and colanders, but not so large as to hog tons of counter or cabinet space. (Note, put tip out on the false drawer front for a handy place to hide a sponge, drain stopper, etc. This is really handy on the island where you don't want to put a bowl/holder with that stuff on the "back" of the sink . . . which works nicely on a perimeter sink.) I bought mine on Amazon (or somewhere like that) for about $350, but here is a link at AJ Madison since they have great spec details. (But terrible customer service. I have it at my prep sink which is the 33" kohler stages. It is nice for prepping since you can position it and it will hold that position. Best faucet ever!

No. The Delta was plastic. Chrome looking plastic. I was shocked at how cheap it felt. My assistant said that Brizio, even though it's the higher-end more expensive Delta line, was the same. I'm only going off of what I was told.

I suggest you check out their faucets IRL before ordering. If you can't (I couldn't), order it from some place with an easy return policy in case you don't like it.

For what it's worth, I ended up choosing Grohe for my bathroom instead. The valves are solid, heavy, and well-built. The faucet trims are actually metal, gorgeous, and heavy. Completely opposite of the Delta.

4mom23girls - I, too was going with the Brizio Talo - I just love the looks, but am now a little concerned after breezygirl's posting. Let me know what you find out and I'll check with my local faucet store as well.

Village--I never questioned the quality of a Kohler.

Susie--So glad yours is quality. I wasn't at a box store for my plumbing needs. The Deltas I held at a very nice, well-respected, multi-state plumbing showroom were cr@p. That's all I'm saying.
