Shower or tub in one-bathroom house?

I need some advice from y'all if you don't mind.

My wife and I (no kids yet) own a small, two-bedroom house with one bathroom. We recently tried to sell it, but we couldn't get a price that would've allowed us to upgrade to the size house we want going forward. Our house's biggest weakness is the bathroom. It's in acceptable condition, but it's just ugly, and the tub is very small.

We want to remodel the bathroom without incurring a great deal of expense, just in case we try to move again in the next couple of years. What we're torn on is the tub. I think there's room for a larger tub, but we're also considering a walk-in shower instead.

Our potential market of buyer is somewhat small. Typically single people, older retirees perhaps, or maybe a young couple with no or only one child. My question is, do you think that a walk-in shower (with no tub) would be a hinderance to buyers? Or do most people prefer the romance of a tub? Please think like a home buyer, and remember, this is a one-bathroom house.

Thanks in advance!
