I vote A, but I like a lot of movement and drama.

To be honest I'm not feeling either one...sorry! They are both very beautiful. If I had to pick one, I would say the white springs. Personally, I would find one with more brown (lots of brown) or reds to go with cabs.
But from these two, definitely option 2.

I don't love either one of them. I would try to find one that is a little warmer in color to go with your cabinets. Of these two options, I prefer the second one. I think you will find one that is great with your cabinets and these are not the ones. Sorry for the brutal honesty, but when you are spending this much for a stone counter, it should be amazing!

I love number one. Green granites are more expensive, which is why you don't see them in kitchens as often. It's unusual :) which is nice, and looks wonderful with your cabinets.

I find number two boring :( It's pretty...but that's all.

I vote for A, but think you should go a little darker overall, because the cabinets and appliances are so light.

NOt sure if other people are seeing something different, But I think the first one, the green is fabulous. It's so earthy, and ties in beautifully with the green from your Tiffany lamp, and I see exact tones of your cupboards- (at least on my monitor).

That would be the Wow factor that defines your whole kitchen!

I'd say you're done, cuz you could just do a very simple white/offwhite subway tile with that.

Of the two I definitely like A! It's beautiful.

I vote for neither also. For those big crystal cabinets, you need a really big island. Somewhere along the line, I decided that Typhoon Bordeaux looked like pizza. It's just not one of my favorites. Try something darker with slightly smaller crystals. You could do the Juparana Bordeaux that was too dark for my kitchen:

Personally, I liked them both, second more than the first. But I don't see why you're letting people vote on YOUR granite! It's your kitchen and and as you can see, granite choices are subjective. I'm going to be kind of nervous to post a picture of my kitchen when it's finished. I'm sure theres a lot of TOK's who will think I made the wrong choice or don't have enough contrast in my kitchen. I'm not sure that I like either one with your cabinets either. Your second one looks sort of like Glad's kitchen. I love it with her white cabinets, but I'm not sure about it with your lighter ones.

I think that if you're going to keep the light, that less movement in the granite is better. Perhaps something that reads a dark green.

I vote for the first one because it has more color in it to contrast with your pale cabinets. I REALLY like that juparana bordeaux teched posted!

I also love the one teched posted. That's exactly what I was thinking when I posted originally that you needed one with alot of brown.

If these are the only choices, I vote for C. However, I think there is something better out there for you than either of these. Neither works just right for me -- but it's not my kitchen!

I vote A or Juperana Bordeaux. I have the latter in my master bathroom and I love it. Good luck.

I'd go with the A. But I'm not sure I'm seeing it right - I'm not getting the green - I'm thinking the colours on my monitor might be a bit washed out with whatever settings its at right now.

I'd also say the ones Teched posted are really nice - mlraff's similarly coloured cabinets go really well.

mlraff53--the granite I finally settled on is sort of like that. Here's a shot:

The color looks bluish in this photo, but it is more gray. My cabinets are cream and I love the darker stones. I think the granite I chose is too gold for the OP's cabinets.

sheila I love them both, really. The first one kind of reminds me of my granite. If I had to pick I would say 2 works better with your cabinets (as I keep scrolling up and down to look at the beauty). Which yard did you go to?

Wow, you nixed Typhoon Bordeaux...why? It's beautiful...that would have been my choice over any of the above. Sorry. But sounds like you found what you love and it's not easy to pick a granite slab that is for sure!!

Granite A which was my new found one today, is called Juperana persa Blue and although it didnt really have blue, it was more of a brown and grey, not really green. But everyone is mentioning the green. I am going to go back tomorrow to get another look at the 2 (and the white spring had 2 different lots) and maybe get a normal photo of the rum and raisin. I am really liking both, but especially the JPB - but I need to think a little more because it is just so different from what I had in mind. Color wise, both did really look great with the cabinets and flooring. Most look good with the cabinet but less look good with the floor which is a white with some grey and pinkish tan.
In real life, I am seeing it kind of how raehelen sees it.
I do have lots of blues in my house, all shades so I want to be sure that it would work (similar shades to the light over the tabel).
And Neesie, not to worry. I am having people vote because it is very helpful to me, but ultimately guess who will be deciding... moi. I have to admit I was(am ) surprised with the number that have said neither.
I appreciate the granites you suggested really, teched and mlraff - they are stunners- but not for me. i would sincerely compliment them in someone else's home but they don't belong in mine if you know what I mean.
Feel free to continue discussing. I will be checking back at least 20 times before tomorrow afternoon:)

I love what you've done so far, it already looks like a different kitchen! I'm not big on the lighter granites with your light floor and cabinets though, I'd love to see something with a lot more contrast and/or color but not with a lot of movement.

I went back this morning to the granite place, and the Juperana Persa Blue, which was my favorite... well, although it does actually look great with my cabinets and floor, the colors are too GRAY -Brown. Not me.
I did see another one that was kind of along the lines of the ones auchmedden posted. I love that Yellow river but the slabs I have seen have not been so pretty or favorable color wise. That slab in that thread is gawwwwww-jus.I will try to post some photos later. I am planning to go on Friday to the fabricator as they also have a bunch of slabs.
dd70- I was at OHM in Jamesburg-Monroe which is pretty near me. the fabricator, benchmark is not... I really appreciate everyone's comments, more than you can imagine. (I guess now its JPB --out!!too bad because while it worked, the colors are too drab for me.:

I agree. I have seen Yellow River in another stone yard by me and it was not pretty at all. I wouldn't have given it a second look and am surprised at the differences within the "same" stone.

Tech, I love your stone. Especially the granite spot in the lower left corner. What a beauty!

Here is another granite that is similar to mine. It actually was a couple of dollars a foot cheaper. I thought about it until I saw my Yellow River again. This one might go well with your kitchen. I am not sure if you are trying to stay with more of a traditional country look or going for more of a transitional look. This would I think work for both depending on the accessories. If you can blow up the picture, I think you can get the name enlarged in the corner. Sorry for the flash on the stone. They were closing for the day and I was in a hurry. If you wish, I can run over there on Saturday and see what the name is.

Here is a quartzite. It is a stone that is harder than granite. It was absolutely beautiful. The man in front of me said wrap it up as I was considering it. They have more slabs. It was a bit pricy but beautiful.

Oh yes, we found a beautiful Yellow River--with a big crack in it. The crack went through the entire lot. The other lot of Yellow River at the importer was bleck. The importer thought we could work around the crack and offered a discount, but the fabricator said NO!!! In fact, they said they had received multiple calls about that stone. They offer a lifetime guarantee so they are picky about slabs.

Mustbnuts those are beautiful as well. I am seeing how much variance there is from slab to slab, and I pretty much walk through the yard looking at what catches my eye and then I ask the name. I am often surprised at what I see and the name that goes with it. I went in asking for certain stones, based on what I have seen here on the forum, and most times while they were definitely "in the ballpark", they were pretty different.
I did see get apic of this one hampshire falls (?) which also looked great IMO with flooring and cabinet; just not sure if its for MY house so to speak. But pretty!

And the rum n raisin one I saw the previous day and somehow managed to get a "video" of (yes I am challenged techno wise) when I went to look at it yesterday well it was so different- I am confused. (previously I saw cream, white and lots of brown rust camel; yesterday it was pretty much brown rust camel and some gray and black. twilight zone anyone?)

I was voting for the first one until I saw the one that tech posted. That JB was just beautiful and would really warm your kitchen up. However, if you want a dramatic look I think number one would be the one. Of course these are just my opinions and I can't even pick my own out. LOL Pick the one that makes you smile.

If you choose a granite that matches the bronze in the door pulls and the pendant lights then I think it would pull everything together quite nicely. Don't be afraid to go dark!

Updating... apparently the one I THOUGHT was rum n raisin was apparently the hampshire falls one all along. I guess I need to re-examine that one as the one I took the movie of did have more variance in the color and definitely had some strong deep bronze colors. Man is this confusing. I cannot get there today but maybe I should set up a cot there?
Anyone heard of hampshire falls? I tried looking it up and got some hits but none looked like the one I have photos of ............of course!!
