Might just be the light, but I like the second one better with white cabs.

I like the Bordeaux River a lot! I just really like creamy white cabinets with green counters, such as Costa Esmerelda which I think goes beautifully with creamy cabinets.

They both look amazing. I must admit I'm always more drawn to 'Bordeaux' colors than golds and rusts, which I think the first one has? I also have to say that the door looks more white than cream in the top photo, which makes it look stark against the granite, and that may not be accurate and a fair look at it?

Thanks for thoughts. I know, the light is terrible. The River is more gray/green than gold. Also, this is not the final cabinet. I will see that tomorrow or Wednesday- it is supposed to be 10% "creamier" whatever that means. Does that impact your votes?

I feel pressured to pick granite so we can have kitchen painted before cabinets are installed, hopefully end of the week. I also fell prey to the "slab that got away" dilemma so I don't want to loose either of these choices.

These photos of the same slab of "river" make it look very different. Better/worse?

I do like it better now, and think I favor it. Have you looked at the slabs and thought about how they'll be cut up and what sections you'll have in different areas?

I must admit that I have not looked at all the slabs nor thought how they will be cut up and placed in the kitchen. In the chaos of this week trying to push the workers to get to the house to get things done so we can get in & moved out of our temp place by Friday, I was just happy to have "met my granite". I just wasn't sure which one of the 2 (ok there were 3) that I didn't get that far.

Is that something I should do? Should I insist the fabricator meet me at the yard to look at them & discuss before I purchase them?

Love the River one...but I agree, you really need to talk with the fabricator about where you want certain aspects of it. It has a lot of movement, which I love, but you may not want certain sections broken up or even in certain areas. And then, even after that, ask to at least see a photo (better yet, in person) of how it is templated.

Another strong vote for Bordeaux River.

I like the first one better too. It has more colors in it and i think it would work well with stainless and even aged brass.

I like the bordeaux river best! don't be afraid to work with the fabricator on how the slab is templated. I made the mistake of not doing this for a bathroom and now regret it.

I think the River has a lot of colors to work off of, but yet is a little more subdued so will not steal the show from accents and accessories. The movement seems bigger and less visually active, so remains more neutral, while still being gorgeous and giving you some color. In case you can't tell, these are all positives to me, and I still favor that one.

The arrangement of the pieces/templating is pretty important so maybe a spot you love won't be cut in two or placed in an unseen portion of the counter (gets cut out for the sink or something), while a 'boring' section with colors you like less takes center stage on your island. (Not sure you have an island, but it's just an example.)

Thank you all for your feedback. I was really nervous but "bit the bullet" and purchased 4 slabs of the River yesterday. Had 24 to cancel and managed to get DH out to the yard to look at it today. He liked it ( b/c we'd never seen anything like it) but still favors the Typhoon Bordeaux I think.

I think the River is gorgeous, but it does really change the tone of the kitchen. With a mass of white cabinets and that granite which is ivory with lots of lighter tone movement, it really does make the kitchen cool rather than warm. Perhaps in hot Florida that's a good thing? Gives it a cool serene fell I hope. On the otherhand, might it seem washed out? DH is now wondering if we should consider a dark stain on the cabinets in stead of painted creamy white as we'd always discussed.

Does the granite now dictate?

Are your floors hardwood? If they are a medium or a dark stain, I don't think you have to worry about the kitchen looking too washed out.

There's so much earthy in that River granite that you shouldn't have a problem warming it up. Just pick up on the greens and browns.

I really liked the typhoon bordeaux. So much that I'm going to check it out for our remodel. I will have dark cherry cabinets and light to med wood floor.
Most white cabinet kitchens I have seen, have the dark granite. You might want to darken your stain some.

I could stare at the river choice all day. I would marry it too! haha

I too vote for the Bordeaux River - stunning, beautiful, interesting.

bday... the River is fabulous! I forget if you posted a layout but I do think your span of countertop will impact the look. Do you have an island? I do see much gray (which I love) which initially is thought to be a cooler feel but it's not a blue gray, more a taupe gray. I think you can achieve a balance of warm and cool.

BTW... you're in my area.. right? (Broward County) Do you have an recommendations on which granite yards I should go to?
