Your #3 Carrara slab looks an awful lot like mine so you know I'm gonna love that. But with your crazy BB, I like Carrara #1 as it's quieter and won't distract from your island!

You done great! I do like Kitchen Option 1 the most. With all the beautiful swirls and movement on the Bahia the more subdued is best for the perimeter. The bathroom cabinets and their color are fantastic! These are such beautiful spaces.

I second Breezy's opinion. The #1 option just spoke to me. The blue bahia has strong lines so I liked the softer lines of #1. HTH!

Option #1 in the kitchen, the blue granite for the bathroom is wonderful, I like the dog room granite...and don't you dare paint those walls! I think it will look great with the blue :)

I'm with everyone else for all the same reasons, #1 for the kitchen! I also think that the dog room granite will look great, and would wait to make a decision about the walls until after it is in and you have lived with it a while. I actually think that granite will do a nice job of toning the walls down and helping everything blend.

I have to ask, what is the name of that stone for your master bath? I think it is stunning! You certainly do love your blues. :)

I think we are leaning towards #1 for the kitchen too and these votes are confirming.

It looks like we'll have install scheduled for the 1st of November (except for the island, we still haven't found anyone to do the blue bahia that can do the perfect seams!)

While on their own, I love option #2, I think that option #1 will go the best with the Blue Bahia, because it is calmer and they won't compete with each other for attention. I absolutely love the slab you showed for the master bathroom and laundry. I think it is a better choice than Super White. I haven't seen anything like it before. What is the name of that granite?

i like both 1 and 2...if i had to choose, #2 ..but can't go wrong with either. i know i am in the minority, but i think its quieter/calmer than 1 and definitely 3 (too busy)

wow! what great choices you have! i like option #2 the best when it comes to the slab itself. that big ol' vein is awesome! and, i sort of think it may be more calm than #1 when it comes time to cut that pretty slab into counter tops, there seems to be more solid white sections in it than #1, but #1 is more consistant looking, and would be nice as well.

Two in the kitchen. The pattern of one it too similar to the blue bahia pattern. It almost looks like the same stone in a different "colorway". You marble should be as white as possible, even a Thassos. Otherwise there is too much competition between the visual elements in your kitchen. It's like a choir where everyone wants a solo; can be cacophonous. Let the bahia solo.

I like the rainforest very much. But I am not sure you have a big enough run to see the pattern, which looks like leaves! If not, maybe you should choose another granite and not repaint.

In your MBA, hard to tell via third generation images, but I think the blue tones are off. I'd go thassos again.

#2 on the marble. It is the calmest of the 3. #1 is the next choice, #3 is far too busy.

At first I thought #1 was the best choice. But now I see the argument for #2. It is the more calming choice. You want the perimeter counters to seductively whisper, not shout. By the way, all three choices are beautiful. Can't wait to see it all come together!

Another vote for #2. It is a more calming look than the other choices with your beautiful island granite.

Your choices are so beautiful! I'd go quietest on the kitchen perimeters, as others have said above, so the Blue Bahia can really shine. (OK, it will anyway, it's so gorgeous!) And I really like the rainforest brown, too. Like kitschy said, it looks like leaves, and that coppery color is so pretty.

LOVE the master bath slab too! That is really stunning. You have really outdone yourself finding unique and beautiful slabs. Can't wait to see them installed!

My opinions... #1 marble, definitely the calacutta cielo, and the rainforest will look awesome in the dog room and I would most certainly not even consider repainted until after the slab is in. Personally, I think it'll look fantastic as is.

Well, we just got some ?maybe? bad news. The first slab (option 1) wasn't tagged for us and it was sold yesterday afternoon. I can't blame them since we didn't put down a deposit or indicate we wanted it, but it's out of the running either way.

SO, I guess the choices are option 2, option 3 or keep looking. It seems like people like option 2 though ?

Option two, or anything with very light or sporadic veining. Not a regular, even, all over pattern. I'm afraid these counters are bridesmaids, and bahia is the bride. : )

No original opinion here - option #2 for kitchen, probably even if #1 was still available. Don't paint yet or ever! Definitely go with that snazzy stone, it is WAY cooler.

If 1 is gone, then do 2. It'll achieve the same as 1, and it's gorgeous. You don't need to go looking again.

Forgot to comment on the rainforest. Better choice than your previous one, and you might not have to repaint.

Option #1 for the kitchen. Option #2 is too stark. Option #3 blends too much with the island. #1 is right between, and should be great.

I think the rainforest brown is a great compromise for the dog room. I don't think it really demands repainting, either, at least as it appears in the pictures.

I love the slab for the upstairs. It's hard to tell from the pictures how well it goes with the cabinets. It seems it might not. In that case, I'd adjust the cabinets, rather than the slab! If it looks okay with the floor tiles, go for it.

Beagle has ok'd that I post my slab of super white to help out. It still might be an idea if the "right" slab can be found. I have seen alot more slabs with much more white in them.

I like option #2 - especially next to your Blue and since #1 is gone.

I totally get the reasoning behind people's choice of #2, but I don't like it with the blue, going by the pictures.

Superwhite is quartzite, right? The hard kind that's good for kitchens, one presumes? I think that the right slab of that might look better than some of the marbles, and would give you an advantage as your kitchen use grows and changes, if it's more forgiving. It's worth it to keep looking a little and get just the right thing no matter what you choose. You're putting too much into this house to set yourself up for any regrets.

#2...I think it is the least busy, and it is a beautiful slab. The blue bahia is very busy so I think something more subtle for the perimeter would work. You really like BLUE don't you!!?? LOL!

That rainforest slab is really cool, but how big is the dog room? That granite looks like it needs "room to breathe". I like it though.

#1 or #2. Both are beautiful and are relatively quiet in order to let the BB steal the show! I think if you wanted the perimeters to be really neutral, you should pick #1. And it's cheaper, which is a bonus :)

I guess I am the only one who likes #3 better. It looks like the bahia minus the color. #2 looks too different in vibe to me. If it were more plain white, I might choose the quieter option.
Can you paste the #2 pic adjacent to the bahia? I think that would illustrate.
I love the RFB and think the bathroom slab as shown is wonderful.

I really can't parse your kitchen layout from that picture but it doesn't look like there is much perimeter counter - is there? Looks to me like you've just got the little sink run between the ovens and the doorway and then a very small bit in the cooktop alcove - if it's a cooktop at all. The rest is all tallish storage, yes?

That being the case, I say just use the same blue bahia. I don't see the need to introduce pretty small fragments of an entirely new entity for those little stretches of counter.

BTW, um, are those awnings you have over the cooktop and whatever the units are to its side? Can't say I've ever seen that indoors before.

We cannot use blue bahia for the perimeter countertops. For one thing, it is only sold by the slab as far as we can tell, and we cannot afford to buy another slab of it right now. For another, we're making the sink in those cabinets out of the same material (the marble) and I don't think we want a blue bahia sink...

pllog, the super white might be too competitive w/ the bahia for the kitchen, but we'll take a look and see if that could work. My fiance likes the idea of having some counters we might actually be able to use.

You also couldn't go wrong with Silestone White Zeus Extreme as a completely white plain counterpoint to the Bahia.

I love #3 - carrara - I just don't know if I feel that love in your application
- The places the 2nd stone will be going will be taking a lot of use/abuse - If I loved the carrara in said location I would ask you if you are ok with inevietable etchings etc But i just don't love it - I guess maybe it is too jarring & isn't playing with the bahia - but do you want something quite opposite?

FWIW I liked Marble option #2 even when #1 was still a possibility. And I LOVE the rainforest brown and that spectacular calacutta cielo. I know what you mean about how amazing different slabs of stone are. I definitely could look at stone slabs all ay every day! And I thought about getting remnants to frame as art too ;)

jejvtr, yes I am OK with etching and pretty sure we're going to go w a marble for sure. I love marble farm sinks and I have planned marble here since the inception of the kitchen. The bahia etches too, so we're just having a citrus free kitchen!

You have so little perimeter counter compared to the island I think you need the one with more movement and veining or it will completely fade into the background with the bahia.

Unless you want the perimeter to fade then I would go with option #2.

I don't think there is a wrong decision here! Everything is beautiful.

Now that you pasted both close to the bahia, I am even firmer about liking the (now) first one with it. It echoes the bahia better.
However, I think I'd consider stainless for at least the sink area. It would be a mellow backdrop and allow the marble sink to show off more. It would also be very functional around the cooktop.... You could use as much citrus or other acids as you want ;) You'd be giving your fiance the bulletproof areas he wants and letting the bahia and marble be more noticeable.

Just to update... we went back up to the granite place and looked again at the slabs and they pulled one out that was further down in the lot than the ones we had, and we found the one. We liked everything about it but it's blotchiness in the center middle, but the cooktop cut out will go there so all will be OK.

The veining is more subtle I think, per the suggestions here, and I think it will be good! We'll find out on the 1st of November when they come to install!

I like your very final choice for the kitchen perimeter. It is compatible, but lets your blue bahia star!
