is your pdf reader updated to the latest version and do you have the latest updates for your version of IE? What version of IE are you using and which Windows?

Have you tried using a different browser like Firefox?

Is your pdf reader Adobe? I removed it from my machines and use a different program, I use pdf X change, but Sumatra is also a great free option you can try, foxit is another.
If you have Adobe and want to keep it, it is essential to do every update for it there have been many all security related.

I know I need to add that info, Raven. I do apologize. I have IE 9 and am using Windows 7. I just looked to see what the version of my Adobe PDF reader is and discovered I don't have it downloaded. I remember uninstalling those Adobe products during the big security issues, but thought when the "all clear" was given and when told what version to install, I had done so. Regardless, I will try to pdf X you linked to.

Will let you know what happens.

Downloaded the pdf X and for some reason, it would hang up once it started loading on my machine; after several attempts I gave up. Went to find the latest version of Adobe Reader and downloaded that and everything worked fine. I now have the recipes I wanted.

you are very welcome glad you got it working. I don't know what the problem with pdf X change would be. Be sure to check Adobe and keep it updated. Should you want to try another option Sumatra is a good choice.

I had problems with PDFexchange when I tried it a couple times on a couple machines. Quickly replaced it. Been using Foxit for years and years with no troubles. Small, lightweight and reliable. I keep it in my tools disk/drive that I carry when servicing machines in the field. Haven't had Acrobat/Adobe Reader on my machines for probably a decade.

Another thing you can do with most browsers is right click on the link and click something to the effect of "Save target as" and save the file rather than opening it first. If I know I want a PDF file, that how I do it rather than opening it in the browser itself.

Are you keeping up with Windows Updates? Doing maintenance? Sometimes there can be a little glitch that causes issues.

I haven't had adobe for years - pdf xchange had been doing all I needed it to do. But within the last week, I received (email attachments) documents I needed to print for DH, a state stream survey of 6 pages, and a map one page. The stream survey would print the last page, hang up on the other 5. I forwarded it to a friend at his office and it printed for him. I could read both attachments, couldn't print and properties didn't show any restrictions on reproducing them.

The map would print, but in mini and nothing I could find to try would adjust the size which didn't show enough detail reduced to be helpful. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling pdf xchange. Material was sent to me from same company, same computer as we've been receiving from for years.

I downloaded free Adobe reader and had no problems printing the documents...Can't imagine what changed, have Win 7, IE10, updated Firefox as backup.

morz8 check to make sure you have the newest version of pdf X change. I know when I checked there was a new version I did a manual update.

Yes I had mentioned foxit in my original reply as another good free option.

I don't want adobe on my machines because of the large number of security issues it's always having. If you decide to keep it check for updates to it weekly.
