PhotoShop Elements Question-Removing part of a photo and..

replacing it with something else.

I KNOW there's a way to do this but darned if I can remember.

I want to take the pole out and replace it with the blurred, blue background.

Small words and short sentences, please?

I feel like a not to bright seven year old today.

Anything too technical will go right over my head...

I have PhotoShop Elements 5.0.

I don't use photoshop, I use paint shop pro, but there is a tool called "clone". You can erase the pole and replace it with the background. See if you have a tool like that.

I don't use Photoshop either, but with Picture It there is also a clone tool that I use for such projects.

I hope this is not too bold, but you asked. I don't think the white is the problem. The right side of the house is OK. Shutter color does little for the house - go with a brighter color, or earth tone. Maybe also do the trim in the same color to tune down the while (ie eves, vent and roof line). The left side of the house could use some work. Two windows and a door - all different designs. The one window with shutters is small and would look better larger, but is not bad. The one to the left of the door does not fit with the others. The entry way is not impressive. I'd spend most of your money on the entry way. Make it much bigger. It is at the center of the house and it should be the focal point. This can be done in a number of ways. Extend the porch. Add a new enclosed front entry. Make a wide, impressive walkway to the driveway. If you add a 'wow' entry way, no one will notice the rest of the house which is not so bad. A nice wood door in the same color as teh shutters. Then work on the landscape. Remove the tree in front of the door way. The new path will extend out from the front, in a wide sweep to the drive, and allow you to add a nice bed on both sides of it. The one in front can curve towards the front of the property on the driveway side and include the smaller tree out front. Another large bed around the big tree to balance it, and to balance that side of the house which is larger. The white house would be a good backdrop to evergreens. You have a great front yard for gardening - if that is your thing. A lot of people on this sight would kill for a lawn like that.

Thanks for the close up. I think you will be OK with the Crema. For example, even if this counter gives the effect of a solid from a distance, there are many examples here of wood cabinets, white or cream backsplash and dark soapstone (Which can look like a solid) and these kitchens look great. As you say, the Crema will pick up on the cream speckles. Put the board sideways and take a picture so we can get the idea if you like. You will be fine. I understand what you are going through!

WOW! What an elegant solution. Thank you for sharing that with us, it was neat watching in real time -- seeing your dilemma followed by the really inventive solution you came up with! I feel like every day in the kitchen remodel I'm trying to stay one step ahead of the disasters, trying to design on the fly and head off the problems. It's nice to have someone else mirror that experience, and it's comforting knowing sometimes those dilemmas produce the nicest, best, most creative results. Really, you should be so proud.

Molie, I have a few white daylilies, but 'Light the Way' is really quite stunning. I also love 'Delia O'Brian Brown'. Steve, I can smell those lilies through the screen! And I'm sneezing! LOL! I really love the look of lilies, but I'm so allergic to them. Tried them for a couple years but just had too many issues. Then the beetles came.......then I really gave up. Will have to continue to enjoy your great photos! Isn't Marie's garden awesome?! I'm so glad Barb took pics while we were there. One of those gardens that is just so much fun to stroll around and find all the cool stuff planted. Such a wide variety. Claire, my viburnum was flowering beautifully, until they all started to turn brown, shrivel up and fall off. So no berries for me this year. I was just happy that the shrub appears to be OK. I was a little worried when the flowers were giving it up. I really like that carefree delight rose. Soooo pretty. Rooguchi clematis has been a blooming powerhouse for weeks. It doesn't show much sign of slowing down yet. Mohawk viburnum with its beautiful berry display. I love the way they change colors over time. Sorry for the blurry photo. I really need to ditch my point and shoot and go back to my D-SLR. But you get the idea. It's loaded with berries.....and the birds and critters never eat them. The daylily bed never disappoints. Delphiniums are now all cut down in cottage area. Hoping for a repeat bloom this fall.

I used it years ago with my first scanner and I loved it. I bought the latest version just last month and I'd forgotten all about it.

I will post the end result when I'm through with it...IF I figure it out.

Here's my version without the pole, but it's very light on my monitor and I'm not sure how it will look on yours.

I have MS Digital Image Suite 2006 Anniversary - whoooo -- that is the lastest and last version of Picture It. Man I love it.

I have Photoshop Elements - and hate it.

Very impressive Maryanne and it looks great here too.
The photo is a little light.
After I remove the pole I'll do some photo enhancing to bring the colors out.

I think I will try to remove the people to the right too.

Lori - one of my favorite things to do in post processing is to cut out the main subject - then do a Guassian blur on the whole picture - not too much - but enough to blur the people/objects in the background.

Then I paste the subject back in - slightly feathering the edges, and maybe adding a drop shadow if the photo is right for it.

That can really make a picture pop.
