If you notice alot of the resturants are not as busy as they were. My SIL in Dana Point said you can get into any high end place, but the medium places are more crowded that even the fast food ones. Same prices but better prepared. Your Breadfast sounds good.

i refuse to eat at ihop anymore...they've gotten so expensive for a simple breakfast i can get at a local chain called ram's horn...

Our IHOP has $4.99 breakfast, except weekend and holidays. Two eggs, two sausage, two pancakes, hashbrowns.

I also get their 2x2 two eggs, sausage, pancakes for like $4.59 any ole day.

I like the Waffle House but the only time I've eaten there is when I've been in Tennessee.

If I want a Sunday morning breakfast I go for unique over chain. We have lots of cute little places down by the beach.

Marie, I was in Dana Point just yesterday for a wedding at a Catholic church high on a hill with an incredible view of the ocean.

We've eaten at "Awful House" twice. Will never go back! Both times the places were not the cleanest, service was lousy and the food awful. Some of them must be good, because there are so many of them, but I'll never know. Two strikes and we're outta there!

If I want Eggs Benedict, etc, I go to the Village Tavern, but I wanted just plain ole scrambled eggs, sausage and toast today.

There's some Waffle Houses that I would not dare go to, but the one close to me is always clean, friendly waitresses,good service, etc.

Waffle House is the preferred choice. While in New Orleans, we would drive 1.5 hours for breakfast- usually had to get into Mississippi to find one. Since living in WV, we would drive 100 miles into Washington, PA for the closest Waffle House. A couple of months ago, Huddle House opened in Buchannan which is between our house and Eric's work. We often stop there on the way to Elkins on Saturday mornings- often enough that our waitress recognizes us! LOL

The T&L Hot Dog Houses around Clarksburg are as close as we can find to Atlanta's Varsity- but no orange frosts, :-(.

I went to Waffle House once.....somewhere in the South. I am glad they don't have them here in California.
DH loves Denney's but I really don't like breakfast very much.
There is a little place in our neighborhood called The Cowgirl Cafe and they have great food for breakfast and lunch.

There's a Waffle House near my in-laws house. Have never eaten there. Funny, just never got around to going there. I can make eggs myself or we go to IHOP, where my daughter used to work (and may return).

We have an IHOP about 30 miles away, but no Waffle House anywhere in the area. I don't care for breakfast either, so I've never been.

DH, on the other hand, loves his breakfast..usually about 5 a.m. at the Huddle House. He is the caretaker for all of the employees who work there..gives them wake-up calls so they can get to work on time, takes them home when they need it, offers firewood, hauls stuff to the dump. He is everyone's favorite uncle. We have lunch there often, too. Brent makes a very good BLT, and I am included in the "family" by extension. Can you tell I live near a very small town?

OMGoodness! Now you're talking!! I love W H. Tyler doesn't have one and I can't understand why. We go there often when we leave the boats. I love their waffles and coffee. They have one of those deals where you get SO much food!! Yep!! Give me a W H any day over an IHOP. Our IHOP is always busy regardless of the time of day.

My favorite place to eat breakfast out is Cracker Barrel I like Waffle house ok and like IHop, but Hubby doesn't like IHop so don't eat there hardly ever.

There used to be a Cracker Barrel nearby but I've never been there. The closest one now is probably 40+ miles away. Don't have a Waffle House. Been to IHoP once and I guess it was OK but not impressive. Certainly not cheap as I recall. I do still like Perkins and there's a couple of Denny's that are very good but around here, Denny's really varies from location to location.

I've discovered a few local restaurants that are really good. My favorite, or at least current favorite is a little family-owned place not too far from where I live. It's off the beaten path, in a residential neighborhood so they don't get a lot of "freeway" traffic. They rely a lot on seniors and cater to them. I joke that there must be a retirement requirement to enter because I think the median age of customers must be about 65. Yep, the parking lot is filled with Buicks! Several things about them impress me. They have senior portions and prices for most everything. Have good specials and daily specials. It's clean. It really reminds me of a small town diner. And one BIG thing that impresses me, they have a counter but it's table height and uses the conventional chairs used at the tables and they're well padded, solid and comfortable. They serve some of the best American Fries I've ever had. Most often I order the hamburger steak and eggs with American Fries and toast, with coffee and tax comes to $8.61. Portions are very good on most everything. Sometimes the senior portions are the same, though I imagine that depends on the cook.

There's another little place that has a variety of weekday daily specials and my favorite there is the 2 eggs, toast, 5 strips of bacon, a huge portion of potatoes and with coffee and tax it too is $8something. There's cheaper meals available at both places.

I enjoy a good big breakfast to start out the day. A hearty breakfast lasts me all day too. I'm not a 3-meal a day person normally, though I know I probably should do that more.

Speaking of that. Maybe I should head out and grab breakfast before work today! :)

Y'all are making me hungry, but I've never been a morning person. Can't seem to make myself get dressed early and usually don't want breakfast until it's more like brunch time.

I have enjoyed the Cracker Barrel breakfasts before...been a long time. I feel sticky when I've visited Waffle House or IHOP..everything I touch, so that's what I remember the most about those places.

I get coffee almost every morning at my local diner, owned by a guy called "Professor Kevin". I first met Kevin (The Professor) when we were looking at houses to buy. We stopped at this little place, looked it over, then went for a quick cup of Joe at Kevin's. We looked at each other and said "Well, there's nothing wrong with this house." I loved it because the back yard looked like a park. We bought it, moved in in June 1981 and have been there ever since! Kevin still makes great coffee, and a "meat sampler" breakfast of eggs,home fries, toast, juice, coffee or tea, and bacon sausage and ham for $6.50.

I have eaten at only one Waffle House,Yuuuk! never had the nerve to try another one.Can't stand I Hop either.Have eaten in several,all disappointing.We don't have either close to where we live but we do have a local Denny's and we never eat there.Way too expensive and in my opinion,especially if I'm paying those prices,not that good.We eat breakfast out maybe once a month and that is at a local family owned restaurant.Always good and reasonably priced and they have wonderful pancakes,and home made cinnamon rolls the size of a salad plate!

While in Atlanta years ago I ate a places called Chicken and Waffles, or something like that. The food was delicious.

Unless I'm travelling I think that eating breakfast out (unless it's brunch) is a waste of money for me because I don't eat much.

P.S. Your spinach squares were a hit this past weekend. Felt guilty because I felt like the credit should have gone to you. May have to post a pic of you in my kitchen cause all my successful recipes seem to come from you, lol.

I like the taste of the food at Waffle House, but don't like their lack of cleanliness in the two or three I've tried. So I don't go back

I like Cracker Barrel. Fifteen years ago, I liked Bob Evans, but they certainly changed their food......AND prices! Taste isn't worth the price anymore.

Had a chicken and waffle place that I sooo wanted to go to, but it didn't survive, sigh!

Don't do chains unless I absolutely have to. We have two great little mom and pop breakfast joints nearby for daytime breakfasts.

We also have a 24 hour place (mom and pop also) a bit out of the way that does a pretty good breakfast, burger or clubhouse.

If I'm not in town and want a late night/early morning breakfast I'll do IHOP if nothing else is open. They're pretty flexible about substitutions on their menu.
