My hike today (3 pics)

I hiked the hills of Quidi Vidi today, man they are steep! Once I got back down and looked up to where I had been, it amazed me that I had climbed up that high(I am not a hiker or even in that great shape). First pic shows the steps I have to go to to get to the top (there was a geocache up there I wanted to find). At this point I have already climbed fairly high. 2nd pic shows the view of Quidi Vidi Lake and the city. 3rd pic shows the view from the top looking back to where I was when I took the 1st pic. I started my hike almost (but not quite) down by the buildings in the lower left corner of the 2nd picture.

Salicaceae, that is really special that your kids like the outdoors. I wish I had someone that likeed the outdoors. I generally have to go on hikes, out birding and bicycling by myself. My friends are not really into nature. LOL. I do get them out on my deck as long as I have some cool drinks. I'm trying to get them to go canoeing with me. I would so love to do that. Enjoy them while they are young and think you are the world.

Thanks for posting a photo of Dragon King. I agree that DK has to be seen in person to fully appreciate its velvety lushness and glowing triangular throat. Another plus: the substantial flowers hold up to a light rain (but not a heavy downpour). All of these pictures are lovely, but I particularly like your happy mix of Dabo Girl, liatris spicata, and daisies.

I am so happy to see your pictures again! I was here back then, but mostly lurking, which I still do a lot because I am not very good about id-ing my plants since the dogs destroyed my labels and I gave up There are a few I know the names of, but not too many. You were one of my secret mentors when I started my hosta planting! I am sorry your 'When I Dream' was a disappointment, but there is so much to love about your gardens! Thank you for that!!!

Beautiful pictures! I'm getting tired just looking at them! :)

I can see my dad's building in that 2nd picture! He does the Signal Hill Trail (from his apartment) every day in nice weather. He also jogs around the lake several times every day.... He is in MUCH better shape than I have ever been or will ever be.

Casey, those are just amazing pictures! My son loves to hunt for the geo caches too. He even hid one and is just waiting for it to get posted. He said it will be challenging. lol

I'm not big on hiking but for that view, I'd put my hiking shoes on. Beautiful.

Thanks everyone! I did find the geocache (I actually found 2, one at the top and one halfway up). Lisa I was gone about 1 1/2 hours, but I went slow and stopped often to take photos. Just me, but I did have my cellphone and I passed a few people on the trails so I wasn't worried about injuring myself and not being able to get help. It is steep but the trails are in a bit from the ocean, so it's highly unlikely you'd fall over the cliff.
