This will be a direct swap so Be prepared for lots of FUN!!! I can take up to 2 groups of 7 each.The Rules go like this. After all signups are taken I will send out the order and mailing address of the gals that are in Your group.Every person will make a center. You will then mail the center to the person BELOW you on the list. The person on the bottom of the list will mail to the person on the top.

When you get a center . You will be making 2 logs following the theme described by the owner.Owners.... You will send out something saying what your theme is and the colors you would like to see.You may not request a technique like Applique since all may not know how or have the time. You may say if you would 'allow' fusables. You may also ask that certain things NOT to be used ( like kiddy prints, or orange etc.)Your center should be 12 inches square (12.5" at time of mailing) and each log should be 6" wide. (6.5" before it's sewn on PLEASE NOTE: not all log cabins are made the same, use the diagram to see which way we are making Log Cabins for this swap.

AUG Center

Sept 15 - top with logs 1 & 2 added

OCT 15 - top with logs 3 & 4 added

NOV 15 - top with logs 5 & 6 added

DEC 15 - top with logs 7& 8 added

Jan 15 - top with logs 8 & 9 added

FEB 15 - top with logs 10&12 added

I HAVE BROKEN DOWN FOR YOU HOW MANY BLOCKS NEED TO ME MADE FOR EACH ROUND

round 1 x 5 blocks (2 blocks for log 1 and 3 blocks for log 2)

round 2 x 7 blocks (3 blocks for log 3 and 4 blocks for log 4)

round 3 x 9 blocks (4 blocks for log 5 and 5 blocks for log 6)

round 4 x 11 blocks (5 blocks for log 7 and 6 blocks for log 8)

round 5 x 13 blocks (6 blocks for log 9 and 7 blocks for log 10)

round 6 x 15 blocks (7 blocks for log 11 and 8 blocks for log 12)

ALSO WHEN I SAY You will be making 2 logs following the theme WHAT THAT MEANS IS THE DESCRIPTION OF WHICH WAY WE WILL BE CONSTRUCTING THE QUILT WE WILL NOT BE MAKING LOGCABIN BLOCKS,,,,

I received my July box yesterday. Thank you pal for being so thoughtful. I loved everything and so did my furkids. There was a play mouse and meow mix for Bogartbaby and a bag of doggie treats for the rest of the gang. A nut and fruit seed bell for the birds outside,6 packs of seeds,2 candles, one was shaped like a flower and smelled wonderful, some garden gloves(one can never have enough gloves), a cute little teddy bear, flower pot tomato and a hosta"Sherman"(looks great, you sure know how to pack a plant),Anti bacterial hand gel(purse size) I always have one on hand,Avon-SSS hand mask(can't wait to try this),stained glass wind chime with a hummingbird on top,(hanging on my front porch already)and the most beautiful cross stitched kitchen towel and book mark(garden theme). You are very talented.We(my four legged kids and I)thank you from the bottom of our hearts and hope that you will be blessed with everything good that life has to offer.

I am thinking of making brown my main color....I think it will bring out a nice warmth to the quilt.... Meanwhile, when you all do log cabin quilts...how many blocks do you usually do - both vertical and horizontal....I'm really thinking about adding at least a full set of blocks all around on this one because I think it needs to be bigger.... Would love you input before I start that.. Meanwhile, I've got an idea to work on a quilted throw...something different - will let you know how that goes as I get into it.....wish me luck.. :-) I been seriously bitten by the bug.... :-) Cheers, Bill

Appraising the property has been one of the problems the owners are having. There is no property with which to compare. That is one reason the owners want to raffle the property. There is little chance they could get anything near the value with an outright sale. A realtor looked at it and had no clue where to begin assessing value. With your interest and background, what would you suggest for getting an accurate appraisal? We are hoping for a low appraisal to keep the taxes as low as possible. The tax liability would be significant. A cousin of one of our members is in bankruptcy because she could not pay the income taxes on a won property and could not get a mortgage. We plan to have a survey and proven clear title to the property before we begin ticket sales. We are considering a ticket price of $500 - $1,000 as well as specifying the value of the property and alerting the potential buyers of tax liability. We hope those steps attract only financially responsible buyers. A cash prize alternative is a possibility. We are checking to see if we are required to offer that as an option. If ticket sales are poor, I would be surprised. A number of people across the country have expressed interest in purchasing the property over the years. However it is always a possibility. We are considering a 50/50 split of the ticket sales after expenses if we have not sold the minimum number of tickets by the deadline date. The owner and HP group will share 50 percent. The HP group is a 501 (c)(3). We had already applied for a gaming licence and will get the raffle approval from the state, oversee the raffle and collect the money. The day of closing, the owners will give us a quit claim deed, we will pay for the house (their cut), and transfer the house to the winner. The house will be open for inspection to any who (plans to) purchase raffle ticket(s). Would a potential owner find value in a home inspection done by the non-profit and available to view? It will be sold 'as is' with full disclosure of known issues. Again, hopefully no one would purchase a raffle ticket who would decline ownership. Thanks for bringing up the possibility. We will look into it. We and the owners have already consulted with a tax attorney and CPA who have been involved with house raffles in the state. Both parties must agree on all the details, and we will have a detailed contract before proceeding. It should be fun, but a lot of work. Thanks, Judy

This swap REQUIRES weekly progress reports no one is to fall behind Please only sign up if you have the time to devote to the tops and know you are going to be able to finish it. Also this is a Row Robin I used the log cabin block to explain how the RR top will be put together.

Well, I've been looking at this since you posted.
I think I get it too.
When we finish, this'll be a nicesized top.

Let me see if I got things right.

We'll start with a 12 inch square.

Send it to the person under us on the list.

We'll recieve a square from the person above us on the list and we'll make 2 logs of pieced blocks to add to it.

Then each time we'll piece 2 logs following the above instructions and add them to the quit top we recieve each month.

When we finish, the large log cabin top will have "pieced" logs from the seven persons on the list.

Did all of it get through my rather thick head correctly?

The one you posted is beautiful.

Let me look at what I have going on from now until February, and I'll get back to you.

If I join, I want to be able to commit to it.
If I pass, Mom will finish for me :)

Red, you do come up with some fun activities.
When the kids put me away in a retirement facility, please come to work there as the Activities Director.

Your center block will be 12 1/2 you send 12" finished.
Yes ,each time we'll piece 2 logs following the above instructions and add them to the quit top we recieve each month. I broke down how many blocks for each log above.
You made me giggle I may be next to you in that retirement facility hoping for a fun Activities Director LOL!

This really looks like fun but with my husband's health concerns being as they are I had better skip this one. You can bet I'll be following along with the pictures as they are posted. You ladies have fun!

Red, I want to thank you for posting this idea! I've been working on a Row by Row at another forum but being my usual self, tried to use my scraps/orphans and just did what came to me for each row - trying not to think about the end result. Now that I'm at the end, putting the rows together in the normal way is not pleasant to my eye. BUT, putting it together Log Cabin style works like a charm!!! Now, to make all those blocks fit!!! @:)
