Anyone know of a good deal on an ereader?

Doesn't have to be a Kindle per say. The most important part is user friendliness. This is for my DH and he is a pretty basic guy. Just needs something with text that can be made larger and is compatible with book downloads on Amazon.

DH has a collection of android tablets and was very tempted to add another from Big Lots ad this weekend it was a dual core for $80 I think. Off brand but definitely hackable & good enough for an ereader. ~ liz

the one at big lots this week is a Polaroid brand, has dual core processor, 1gb Ram, 4gb storage, $99.99.
Any Android tablet can have the Kindle for android app installed for use with amazon and Kindle books, plus it will come with an ereader app installed which allows you to read more formats like epub, which is a very common format and is one used by the library.

The important thing is what is the screen resolution especially if it is mainly used for reading, the higher the better. All will allow font change, size and background color etc.

I believe the tablet on sale is the M7, here's some information at Engadget, the difference is that one has more storage, however with the sd card slot you can have plenty of storage space. For a basic tablet/ereader I think it would be a good buy. I don't know who is making Polaroid's tablet but they are all pretty similar in that range.

The mailer says shipped for proper fall planting time which according to their website starts Sept 14th, so I am assuming they would have to be dormant by then, wouldn't they? If y'all think these cultivars are worthwhile I might go for it. I'll look for some local deals as well. Dtd I'd take you up on your offer, just to be able to come see your gardens, but road trips with my two little kids (2yo and 5 yo) generally aren't relaxing endeavors. Maybe when they are bigger and I don't feel guilty about leaving them with hubby for extended periods of time. Thanks again. I can't offer any referral, I'm so sorry. You're looking for help in finding out what's best for you and your relationship, and that's a very good thing! I wish you all the best in your search for contentment, understanding and happiness once again. Hopefully someone will pop on here and be able to offer advice. There are quite a few counselors and therapists out there to be able to speak with. The first few visits will prob be about backgrounds, family tree and how happy the 2 of you were growing up. It may seem like no help at all but this "stranger" needs to be familiar with who you are. I went to a therapist twice to help me deal with anxiety issues. Basically, I wasn't sleeping well and needed a time out for myself. I was overworked. There were a few things that I took away from my visit....she asked if I had a happy childhood. Were my parents happy. I could remember that my father worked swing shift and did alot of side jobs. We went to church a few times per week. We went on family vacations. BUT Were we happy as a family? I really don't think I've ever known what happy is until I started gardening. I am truly happy in the garden.....and would have never questioned it if I never went to that therapist. Sorry for rambling on and being personal but please try to be patient while a counselor is trying to get to know you. Be honest with them and let them know that you're feeling a sense of urgency to get to heart of the matter. Hugs, LC Grace

It's a nice looking kitchen. The Jenn Aire grill is not a high end grill, but it will be fine for someone who just wants to throw on a steak every so often. We use our grill several times a week and eat all our meals outside, unless there's a thunderstorm. If you think you will do anything more than the occasional barbecue, then you can look around at different outdoor kitchen stores. We have several of them in the Tampa area. We got a good deal by purchasing a display model. It was 2 years old, but had never been used. I got the full warranty on all the appliances. We were going to custom build, but it was going to run over $20,000. The display model was under $11,000 and included all Viking appliances - a grill with rotisserie, 2 gas burners, a fridge, a warming drawer and a storage drawer. We hadn't planned on a warming drawer, but it really comes in handy for parties!

Thanks for the feedback :) Sheesh, so you saw this coming huh, Talley-sue. Why didn't you tell me? lol. Transitioning into school was very tough for my very quiet, shy DD, so I think we made a big deal out of all her work the first year or two. It's funny how time will change your view of them. It's not like she colored the pictures with much intent, honestly a lot of them look like she just picked a random crayon and scribbled all across it. They also did a lot of cut and paste with glue sticks- which apparently don't hold up well after even a few short years, so now there are little scraps of paper everywhere that were once glued to... who knows what? Your experience with not remember the work you did, or even caring-- that is how I feel too. Same thing with clothes--- who wants old, dusty, discolored stuff from way back then? Hopefully that is how DD will feel when she grows up. When she was younger, she still wanted to sort through it from time to time, which is one of the reasons it hasn't gone sooner. It's easy to grab out the report cards, awards, tests that were exceptional and the teacher wrote something nice, and put those aside. This might turn into a little bit of a vent, but a few years ago, MIL came up with a box of DH's old school papers. DH struggled through school with an undiagnosed learning disability (which he found out about in his 20s). So this box was full of reports, tests, and general school work that he had failed--- why would anyone keep that? It made him feel miserable, and was sad to watch him go through it and relive it. Maybe that's a good starting point for a baseline of what to keep- it needs to be special- on the high side of positive remembering. Ah well, thanks again for all your ideas and support.

I got DH the $79 Kindle several years ago......easy to use and since I put it on my account we can share books. Very basic.
I can download books from our local library, too.

You can get a Kindle without ads for $89. You are not going to find anything this good and with such good tech support in an off-brand for this price. And, at $89, it makes no sense to try to save a couple of bucks.

If the off brands at Big Lots are pushing $100, I guess I will spring for a couple more and get a Kindle. Maybe I'll even get the Kindle Fire and give DH my regular Kindle.

I have a regular Kindle and love it...I use it for reading ebooks downloaded from Amazon. I bought the Kindle Fire and hated it and gave it to my son. I purchased the mini iPad, I am getting use to it, it is heavier and is like a mini computer. If I just want to read a book I always use my Kindle. BUT in saying all this, if he only wants to read books, there is nothing better than the Kindle.
