OT....sons surgery is tomorrow

We have to leave by 6:00 in the morning for the long drive,as surgery is early.I hope I am able to go, for some reason I was really sick today and was dizzy and vomited. Going to bed early so Ill feel like getting up with the roosters,,lol!!! Thanks for all your prayers, and Ill let you know how it went when I can, Love, caroline

Hi Mona. Hope you are feeling fine by the time you read this. I'll be thinking of you today and looking forward to more good news about an easy surgery. So sorry to hear about your FIL. This must be a tough time for your husband, with you out of commission, on top of his loss. I know you two are solid, though. You'll both be okay. I hope you are up (figuratively) for the service on Saturday. The only important funeral I ever skipped, due to illness, left me struggling to process my loss. Don't hurt yourself, but do remember the needs of your heart as well as your knee. It is your loss, too. Oy, what a crash course in getting-to-know-you with the son-in-law. My guess is that if your daughter loves him, you will too. It might be good to have him show up at a time when you are not being uber-hostess....could set the tone for a different kind of relationship. (That's spoken as an uber-hostess, myself, mind you!)

Well, I got home Thursday evening. I spent 2 nights at the hospital in spite of having the surgery laproscopically and it usually being "outpatient". I am glad I did, the staff at the hospital took very good care of me. I am doing pretty good, still some pain but that's to be expected. I feel better health wise in spite of the pain. I don't feel nauseous and haven't had to run to the bathroom since having the surgery. I wanted to thank you all again for your words of encouragement - truly did make me feel better about going in. Thanks everyone for your well wishes and prayers. It must have helped because everything went well. The only hitch was the surgeon was running an hour late, but the surgery was quick. It was scheduled for 6PM but didn't start till 7PM. DH barely had time to get home to make dinner for him and DS, also Elvira the dog, then eat before turning around and picking me up. I am stone free for now. I go in to see him 2 weeks to get more information on prevention, diet and medicine. Thanks for your well wishes. Clare

Are you sure they'll be there? DH was scheduled to have a hernia repair today, and the center called and cancelled yesterday. Don't know where you are, but with the travel restrictions here, one shouldn't be on the roads anyway. He did speak to his dr. and then one of the office personnel today and it looks like he'll be rescheduled for next Monday. Whatever happens, good luck to you with yours.

Son came through surgery really well. They cleaned out the infection around his vertabrae,and it had eaten into the bone a bit. The had to take a graft from his hip to repair it. Now they will send off a sample to see if they can determine positively what caused the infection, but they are pretty sure it was from the tick bite.He will have to be there a couple of days on an antibiotic drip, but so far all is going good. Thank you everyone,for prayers.I know they made a difference.You are a wonderful bunch!!!! Now I am going to BED!!!! Love, Caroline

Wow, that is AWESOME news. Please let us know if it was the tic.

The other day as I was using the "ladies room" my had ran against my thigh and I felt a bump. It was a tick! They make the area numb so if you don't feel the bump with your hand you would never know. It hadn't been in long but coincidentally I had been feeling sick like a cold (for the first time in years) and I thought of your son and it was really unnerving. Then a couple days later I found a tick in my dog. I looked them up on the internet and they're usually not too toxic out here in CA but they can be VERY SERIOUS. Well, obviously...

ANYHOW -- hugs and prayers for your family and so glad your Son is on the mend.
