Flor carpet tiles

I have redecorated DD (14 years old) room. I wanted to use the Flor brand carpet tiles as an "area" rug on her recently refinished hard wood floors. Has anyone here used these carpet tiles? How did they work out? Would the sticky discs be an issue on the hardwood or would the plastic backing scratch the wood floor? Very interested in your opinions. Thank you.

Yes! I've helped DD2 who has used them in her living room, playroom and laundry room (a few extra from LR). DS also used them in their DDs nursery.

The sticky discs are not an issue - not scratchy at all - but DD2 put felt rug pads under them since she wanted more buffer from falls. Linking Amazon store below - they even will cut to size.

We just refinished our bedroom hardwoods and bought these as area rugs. Not completely done so not picture ready, but I really like them! The ones I chose are more modern and low pile so they aren't very cushy, but I unexpectedly like that. My 9 yo son designed his to have a picture of a snake. They just finished his room yesterday, so I haven't laid it yet. Not sure how it's going to turn out, but he sure is excited about it. I'll probably lay it tomorrow and will take a picture then. Oh, make sure you google for coupon codes. I did and saved over $100.

I had never heard of Flor before your message. It's an interesting idea but like you I have no idea how well the installation method works or how the carpeting holds up. Seems a little expensive too, starting at $33 per yard and going up to $100 with most of it in $50-$60 range.

We're getting a new LG front-load W/D set. They're going on the 2nd floor so of course we're a little concerned about noise and vibration. I already have a set of anti-vibration pads on hand, but was considering putting some FLOR carpet tiles underneath as well. We have some extras lying around so it wouldn't be a big deal if they got wet or damanged. Any chance the carpet tiles would increase vibration since they could compress a little over time?

I'm not sure any room is too small for a rug/carpet. There may be things you'd want to consider (size of the pattern, color, etc) so as not to make the room seem smaller, but in general I'd think it's fine to put carpet tiles in your room.

Great info on Flor dots alternatives. They have held my tiles together for 16 years. I have another dilemma, though. Hopefully it's okay to ask it here. Unfortunately I did not read that carpet tiles could not be installed over the sealant on my concrete floors, nor did I realize that there is a sealant on the floor. I have wanted to redecorate my floors but am stymied by not being able to remove all the tiles. Does anyone have an idea on what to use to break the "forever seal" between the tiles and the floor. Some tiles came up easily while others are holding on tight whether they are a whole tile or partially torn tile. I have used most cleaning fluids, alcohol, vinegar, baking soda concoctions, etc. I'd prefer to not have to use a varnish remover, but that might be the only solution. Someone suggested a heat gun which I have not tried yet. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thank you!

Here's a picture of my son's carpet. See the snake and notice the crazy snake sheets? I think it turned out great. Can't wait until he sees it!

The carpet is not soft at all. I was expecting it to be more soft than it is and was worried when I first put it down in my own room. But after living with it for a week, I do like it. I have Lacebark in my room. My son has Reverb and it seems to be the lowest pile. My 6yo daughter's room currently has Toy Poodle and although it is the softest of those we initially bought, she didn't like it so I bought a few more squares in Rake Me Over to use in the center. Those should come today. I think it will be much softer.

Just received my daughter's Rake Me Over tiles. Very soft! Love it! It is more expensive than some other options though.
