I'm not sure but maybe she is thinking she will be acquitted and set free to party on, like she did when the little girl was missing.

I would imagine that the District Attorney in this case has no intention of offering or accepting ANY kind of plea at this time.

I live in this area actually between Orlando where the crime happened and Pinellas County where they are trying to seat a jury. I really don't think they will get an impartial jury anywhere near here. The news was 24/7 during the time the little girl was announced as being missing and the time her mom was arrested. I think they called a total of 600 people to be picked from and have dismissed most of them. Only 30+ to even be considered.
They spent 3 hours yesterday alone questioning 1 person.

I think early on they tried to do a plea deal and it wasn't accepted by her attorney and her. To me there could be no way that she wasn't involved. Why it happened is what I would like to know. How could someone hurt their own child like that?

I just don't understand that either, mboston. I can't kill a bug without feeling guilty I don't get how one could perform such a heinous crime. As to the jury, who can put their lives (personal & professional) for that length of time? I know could not, and who could go without a paycheck for that long? I fully understand the need for our jury system but it just is not feasible in today's world.

But then again, I don't know why we are worrying about it. Is it May 21 that the end is coming?

mboston, I don't think they could find an impartial jury anyplace in Florida. Pictures of that beautiful little girl have been all over the news since it happened. And moving it to Pineallas is a joke. It's like they don't have TV and get the news from Orlando.

Yesterday, the judge told the attorneys they had 1/2 hour questioning each juror. Good for him! I'd sure hate to be the person who was questioned for 3 hours. Geesh!

They'd never pick me. I think Casey Anthony is a liar, murderer and egomaniac. Her parents would have gladly raised that sweet little girl. I sure would have. It just makes me sick.

I don't think they would have bought the accident, since there was duct tape over her mouth.

I think she drugged her and taped her mouth put her in trunk while she partied...Something went bad,suffocated ,maybe fumes from car???I dont think dshe was too woried if she continued to party afterwards.THIS IS MY OPINION....

Not everybody watches the news or reads the paper, though. You'd be amazed at how many people are clueless about things that are commonly known to you and me.

There are rumors now that she will somehow implicate one or both of her parents. She refused her Mother when she came to visit last weekend. BTW a potential juror talked to a reporter after they had been instructed not to talk about the case. He figured he'd be excused. He was-but was charged with contempt of court and fined $450! I've also heard she was offered a plea right before jury selection was to begin and she refused. Personally I think her brother helped her after the fact. Maybe moved the body.

For some reason I think her Dad was involved. I don't think the Mom was though - after all she was the one that involved the police by calling them and telling them that her car had the smell of a dead body in it.

She has never seemed remorseful.

Now the mother that killed her two teenagers because they were "mouthy", I do believe she is mentally ill. She was a mess when they hauled her off to jail. Still, something's really wrong in this world for parents to kill their children.

I saw news reports that she has been telling fellow inmates that she often drugged her daughter so she would sleep and she could go out and party.

I think shes in denial,when they first arrested her she came strutting in with her wiggle in to the court room,she thinks shes getting off I think..I think too brother may be involved.

IMO Casey Anthony is the lowest of the low. Anybody that would try to implicate a brother and father as an excuse for her behavior is beneath contempt.

Yes the jury selection has been #1 news item since it started. Weeks before it started some news stations were trying to get a court order to find out where it was going to be held since Judge Blevins said the info would be released only hrs before the start to keep the area from becoming a crowd magnet.
She has been tried in the media but there are people who can be impartial and I just hope they will be found quickly.

As for Caseys' parents raising Kayle......DUH.....they are the ones who raised Casey. Look how she turned out. Yes the parents do have some responsibility in the moral attitudes of their children. I think they have raised a narcissistic sociopath ( http://sociopathx.com/ ) and they knew their daughter had emotional and mental issues but didn't do anything to get her help. Keeping up appearances of normalcy was more important to them. Raising a child to an upstanding, moral adult is not easy but it can be done. George and Cyndie have displayed odd behavior since these events came to light. Both of them are off the wall, as strange as Casey. I have no doubt that is one DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILY from way back.

Both parents have defended their daughter from the beginning, even pointing a finger at a babysitter. I agree they both have acted strangely at times.

I think her parents are just as bad as she is...They, also withheld evidence and at different times, refused to talk...And as far as the dad attempting suicide, shows, he's not too stable or probably just a publicity stunt....That whole family is strange.....
This trial will drag on for months and mega money will be spent, money that could be put to better use.....

I'm looking to put a good spin on the whole time cost awfulness of the whole trial and such. I don't know how the location was picked I'm just sorry they didn't bring that trial to Brevard County. The location wasn't let out early thats' for sure. Only the night before did the press learn where the trial and jury selection was going to be held. It must have been a mad dash for rooms at decent hotels and motels near the Pinellis County Court House. What the market will bare, the rates for the rooms have quadrupled at least. Restaurants and such are doing good business and there is some temporary hiring being done in the area. 8-12 weeks. Between press/media personnel from all over the country, expert witnesses from around the country on both sides coming in for testimony that could go over night or longer, people for various reasons just wanting to be in the court room (which will be open first come first seated), the lawyers not going to make that drive to Orange/Osceola Counties everyday back and forth the judge and the jury members sequestered that is a lot of people and rooms and work for a hard time economy it is a good thing.

I understand your concerns about getting a fair jury because of the media attentions this has received. Media spin is hyper-pap for the masses and made to keep viewers tuning in to that particular station. Hopefully there are enough intelligent people who can tune out the rumor mongering sensationalism and be part of a fair and impartial jury of peers.
The thing about selecting a jury is those folks answers to the questions. Truthfully, knowing about something is very different from having a predisposed judgment without the body of evidence giving proof beyond a shadow of doubt. I do know Casey is accused of killing her daughter. I know there is much debate over the evidence and its handling. I know many people already believe she is guilty. I could not presume to make judgment of innocence or guilt without seeing the evidence giving absolute proof. Even after a trial and I am not a juror I could not make the assumption she is guilty or innocent because I would not have seen all the evidence, heard the testimony, and seen the actions and reactions of the accused. If I were a juror I would make absolute sure I understood everything and would ask for clarifications if I didn't understand. I would hate to send someone to death row over a tidbit of incorrect or misunderstood information. In this type of trial the jurors are very vulnerable people. They have the burden of seeing justice done in a very publicized case of child murder. All the while being denied the comforts of family and friends that would normally be the support and strength to help them thru a rough situation.

No the trail is set in Pinellas County. On the West coast of Florida just North of Tampa. Its county seat is Clearwater, the courthouse is there.

Directly east all the way across the state is where I live, Brevard County. Just on the north west side of Brevard County is Orange County where the Greater Orlando area is. Well there is this map so you can get an idea of locations.

Yep, I read that the jury will be sequestered in Orlando. That to me makes it even harder on the families of the jury members. I don't know if they would be allowed in the court room just to catch a glimpse of their family member or not, being that far away makes it even more difficult.

They will be able to have limited visitation with family members on Sundays. They will also have field trips and other entertainment during the time they are sequestered.
