Now isn't this the most beautiful thing you've ever seen? It is for me, for sure. That's a profile of the baby's chest and head you're looking at - he/she is looking up. See that big brain? :)

Baby is looking perfect - measuring just right for his/her age, heartbeat was 157 bpm, wiggling around like crazy. The placenta is anterior, which means its between the baby and the front of my belly and sort of acts as a sound barrier, so that's why the doctor couldn't hear the heartbeat yet. And it's a big placenta.

What relief!!!!!

Thank you all SO very much for your thoughts, prayers, and support. It was SO helpful and comforting.

I am not sure about the pollinators, but a one-year old grape vine probably won't have any fruit this summer, should have some next summer, but it might only a couple of clusters, and by the third summer should have many (dozens) of clusters of fruit. At least that is the schedule at my place, where we tend to have periods of dry soil in the summer that may slow down the growth of grapes. I wouldn't be surprised to find that the schedule is accelerated in other places.

I walked home to check on the palms last night Mike- it was like an Arctic wasteland-unbelievable! Half of my G-house collapsed,it was a good thing I checked it,I think part of it had to be laying on the space heater. I turned of all the power-there is really no reason to heat with that much snow on everything. Supposed to be -12 tonight,maybe. I figure the snow will insulate everything-gotta leave it as it lays until the lows get into the teens again in a few days. This is about the time of year when I question whether I will continue with this hobby- SPRING usually helps me forget all the white stuff pretty quick- there is a lot to forget on the ground right now,I would guess 15"+ but there's no way to know exactly....... Thank you roselee -- Several of us have been tossing this around. I thought at first that I had immature and mature birds of one species ... but when the presumed sharp-shinned showed up again, on 8-16-14 . . . I knew I must have two different species. Now, to figure out which of the two species nested across the street here, in 2013 . . . :-)
