I have nothing to add to your list, but just wanted to confirm that what Lowe's sells is American Olean. I used them in my bathroom reno a few years ago.

Horus Art Tile

I have Sonoma Star 3x6 in Twine. It's an off-white, but looks darker here. The liner is Tribeca Trimble also in Twine. Sonoma has a big selection, so prices will vary on each line. Our subway was $14.13 sf contractor's price.

I don't know where you're seeing Dal for 4.00 a foot, but even the premium colors shouldn't be retailing for more than 2.50, and most of the colors should be around 2.00, and that's retail! Same goes for American Olean.

Check out crossville savoy matte or gloss. They have several sizes. I love the white and the linen gloss. I plan on using a white subway tile for my backsplash. Still havnt made a choice yet so Im glad you are looking for info. Helps me out a lot....Thanks!!

krissd, what is different about your subway tile? is it a crackle tile or some other finish? just wondering why the big price difference. any close up shots?

kateskouros, it is a crackle finish, handmade. I'm posting a pic of the wall, and then a closeup. It's really hard (for me) to get a good photogrpah. The undercab lights are on in the first one.

Honestly, I love them, but they are more subtle than I thought they would be. It's different when you have your individual tiles up to your nose vs. what actually goes up three feet away from you.

Just a local tile place in Oklahoma but a place online had it for $3.50-4.
$2 is much better though, if someone around here can match that!

We're getting Meredith Art Tiles 2x6 - but I believe I also priced the 3x6 and they were the same price - around $21 per square foot. That could be a couple of dollars low, I need to find the quote to say for sure.

Horus Art is our other choice, it's cheaper ($16 psf range for 2.5x5) but you have to buy it by the carton, and the way our footage works out we'd end up with 3/4 carton extra - and it would bring the total cost up closer to the Meredith, since from them you only have to order exactly what you need.

We have the 3 x 6 Meredith Art tile, handmade with crackled glaze. Our cost in June 2008 was 12.16/ sq ft, but it listed for 14.00/ sqft. You quote seems high based on what I paid, and we got our from a high end shop in Chicago. The BN on the 3" side was 7.00 per piece BTW.

The Meredith Art tile is very similar to krissd's. It is 5/8 thick and might even be a little more irregular than krissd's

thepond: my grout is Laticrete epoxy grout in Silver Shadow. I like it too! :)

I have the Crossville Savoy white gloss. I don't have that much backsplash so it wasn't a big difference for me, but I liked that they had a little more character than the very flat Daltile or American Olean. They are thicker and just slightly irregular. I used a light grey grout (sterling, perhaps?). My price wound up being something like $9-11 sq ft.

I have Lanka 3x6 plain white subway tiles. They're not up yet but they cost $3.95 a sq. ft.

I have Horus Art crackle finish. I LOVE them. They are machine made vs, hand made. I chose machine made b/c I wanted thin grout lines. Hand made are more irregular so grout lines are bigger.

Sorry for the late response. I just finished updating my kitchen and I used DalTile Natural Hues Vanilla. It has a warm undertone and is very pretty.

circuspeanut: would you please email me/post additional pictures of the work you did. I really like it and it works in our budget (remodeling a bathroom in a rental unit).
