Hello, Old Friends

It's been such a long time since I've posted, but I've been "lurking" whenever I get the chance. I enjoy looking at, and reading about all your projects. I spend as much time as I can in my sewing room, but as is the case with most of us, it's never enough.

I don't know if I can remember how to post pictures here anymore (Maybe one of you experts would post those instructions again??) Something about photobucket, but I can't remember the details.

Finally, I'm going to be a grandma for the first time next month, so I've been making baby things, of course. Also made my first memory quilt for our principal who's retiring. A few months ago, DH bought me a new machine - a Brother Nouvelle 1500S - and I'm in love with it! I've become a little more daring with my free motion quiilting. I no longer dread the quilting part of my projects.

And I've really enjoyed all the posts about making bags. I discovered those a few months ago, and love making them.

So nice to talk to all of you again. Kaysu

Nice to have you here! I'll just copy something I posted a while back for someone who wanted to use Photobucket:

Once you register at Photobucket, which is free, you can Browse to find pictures in your computer that you want to post on the forum. Once the "address" of a picture (that is, what tells where it is in your computer) appears in the little window, you click on "Upload," and you will find a small version of the picture a bit farther down on the Photobucket page. There will be three little windows under it. Select everything in the middle one, which has "HTML Tag" next to it, and then press Ctrl and "c" or else go to "Edit" and "Copy."

Then, in the window where you are composing a message and want to post a picture on the forum, you simply hit "Ctrl" and "v" (or go to Edit and then Paste, as you did when copying). When you hit "Preview Message," the picture itself will appear along with your message on the next page so you get an idea of how it is going to look on the forum.

We'll be looking forward to seeing pictures of your work.

I take my photos with a Polaroid digital camera, upload them to my computer, fix and resize them in Adobe Photoshop, and use PhotoBucket to upload them to the forum. I usually make the pixel size around 300 or 400 a side, somewhere in there... then I fix the contrast or whatever needs fixing, sharpen them up, and save for the web. Pretty simple, but somewhat time consuming... going through all the little steps involved so the pictures come out good for internet viewing and easy loading. I'd love to see your collection of pictures, too, soultan, but there's no rush... someday when you're bored and have nothing to do... (ya right! like that's gonna happen!) Getting the pictures taken is half the battle... getting them uploaded and ready for the web is the other half... if we can help in any way, let us know... we'll certainly try!

Getting your box was really a sweet way to start your birthday weekend. I would love both the apple pie jam and the tangerine lemon jelly. Good maple syrup is always a treat and even after it's gone, the pitcher will remind you of Stacy (I know that because I have a plate from her that I use a lot and always smile and think of her). Somehow "Small Batch Preserving" doesn't sound too intimidating, even to me. I can't wait to see what you try and post from it. I'd love it if you or Stacy would post that jelly recipe, lemon is one of my favorite flavors and we're just coming in to tangerine season. Sweet choices Stacy! Perfect timing I was just answering another post on here. First, thank you for the compliments. I appreciate your purchasing the RAD and am glad the experience was pleasant. Witht hat said, lets see if we can address what has happened. It sounds like you did almost everything right. Pressure Washers are a great tool but they take some getting used to. The enemy here was the sun. Where there are mold spots, you needed a bit more dwell time. Where it is silvery white, probably the same issue. You can easily go back and reclean and brighten those spots. Or instead of mixing more detergents, spraying, draging out the pressure washer etc you can kill two birds with one stone and use 60 grit sandpaper to buff off the furries and clean up the spots that may have gotten missed. I would love to see pictures of the finished product.

Thank you for your replies. The termite tent man came out and said the rose would have to go inside the tent. He said it would almost certainly kill it. I think both of your suggestions are good - it is a tough plant. When we get to that point I think I will cut it way way back and wrap it. I see that there are bags they give you to put your food in - if you leave your food inside the house (why?) that are supposed to be safe. In any event we are waiting til fall - we have to leave the house open for 3 days and saturate the ground with water for three days before tenting. Its over 100 degrees here now and we are in a drought - so I cant water that much. Thank you again - it was so nice of you to take the time to answer. Welcome back Kay! Glad you dropped in to say 'HI' between projects!! Congrats on the grandbaby...we've have a bunch of new grannys here lately, you'll fit right in with their club! LOL

About that Florida thing: Life in Florida just doesn't really suit me. It's OK for a couple of weeks at a time, maybe twice a year. But it's not home. DH spends as much of the winter there as he can, but I get restless, and have to be home (Long Island) where the rest of the family is. My 'kids' - all grown-ups, technically, will be scattering this year - one getting married and moving to Oregon, another going to Germany, another to Alabama, one already IN Alabama. But somebody's gotta hold down the fort - and that's ME!
