Quilt show in Columbus, OH

My DD and I are going to the quilt show on Thursday. Is anyone here planning to go to this show? I have never attended the show in Columbus. I have gone to the large quilt shows in Chicago several times.

My DD lives near Columbus and said the convention center in close to her former place of work. I'm glad I don't have to drive downtown.

Have fun at the quilt show. Next week I am going to the quilt show in Vermont -- can't wait -- it's a great show.

Yep! I will be at the Columbus, Ohio show.. our quilt guild is leaving for the show on Wednesday (June 16) and leaving Saturday for home. We are coming from Reading, PA. We have been to a number of shows in PA, and this is a first for us out of state. Looking forward to this adventure!

Thanks, everyone! I really enjoyed seeing what fabrics and combinations of fabrics the other people used, I learn a lot that way. I learn what I like, what I don't like, how to think out of the box, etc. It makes me a better crafter when I get outside my zone. Anyway, I was tickled to see it there. I made Woody get up and come in to see it, and he was impressed as a guy could be with something that doesn't explode or create havoc! lol And the cats just love this thing, Beez has staked a claim but he will occasionally let Murphy get on it with him. :)

Wow, it does look like sherbet! I took a watercolor quilt class a long time ago, and the teacher had us use the back of some of the squares to get lighter colors. You could always lay out a couple of blocks to see what you think. I think it also depends on how literally you want to do the "scrappy" thing. If you were making a quilt and could only use fabric you had on hand, you'd be more likely to use some pieces wrong side up. If you want to buy the fabrics, or some of them, you'd just buy a light color if you needed it. Donna

Magothyrivergirl, the twister patterns are actually the really small twister tools. They measure 2.25 and 1.5 inches to use with 3.5 and 2.5 inch charms. Donna, last year I met Marie Bostwick, the author of the Cobbled Court novels. I met Rebecca last year also but didn't get a picture with her. They both are very friendly. I would love to take a class with Bonnie Hunter. I hope our guild will bring her in some time. Sharon, you know how I love to shop at quilt shows. lol I was so excited about the quiltlet that I made it as soon as we got back home from Columbus. It is made completely from my scrap drawer. I'm enjoying everyone's comments about the house. Kmgc, I'm looking forward to this year's parade of homes in Dublin. Last year I thought the homes were terrible. Carole, I didn't notice the tiles in the shower. I think I'm going to go back tomorrow since the designers will be there from 6-8. "In the main entry foyer that had a two story staircase, they had 3-4 rows of paintings of different sizes. They all had gold frames and were sized and arranged so nice. I don't think they show a photo of that area." I immediately noticed the paintings too and I was bummed that there are no pictures of the foyer. I also immediately thought about the debate that would ensue here if the HD crowd saw the paintings as to whether they were hung too high/low/too many. LOL! I actually liked the way they did the foyer. I forgot to mention that my hubby did not like the house at all. He thought it should much more for 2.2 mil. What did you guys think of the art deco "away" room with the wallpaper on the ceiling? I thought it was too much and wasted space. I know the whole idea of a decorators showhouse is to feature individual design firms but I agree with everyone above that in the end, the whole look was disjointed and not something that I would want for myself. Finally, I'm looking forward to my first homearama in Cincinnati that is coming up soon.

Barbara, you have much farther to go than I do. I am 3 hours from Columbus. I am driving down to my DD's tomorrow afternoon. She lives just minutes from downtown Columbus. Have a good time at the show!

I've been to the NQA Convention/Show a number of times. It's a great show. My sis-in-law and her sis-in-law are planning to attend on Saturday. I am a bit over an hour southeast of Columbus. Traffic shouldn't be too bad on Sat.

I am home from the Columbus Convention Show which as expected was really interesting and fun. Took in several lectures and watched the demo of NQA members. Thought the grand champion quilt was amazing, and the back just as amazing to view. We were lucky to be in the hotel directly across the street from the convention center and that was handy. Came home with lots of ideas, and new products.

You need to see the Oaks, Philadelphia,PA show, some of our members as well as myself thought this is much bigger.

We were there from about 9:30 - 4:00 p.m. Saturday. Except for lunch, we never sat down & our legs were sooooo tired @ the end of the day (and my sis-in-law & I walk 3 miles every day)! The concrete floor is murder on the legs/knees. Otherwise, we very much enjoyed ourselves.

Lots of great quilts, neat ideas etc. One that was particularly memorable to me was a series of "self-portraits" quilts by several ladies. Each was connected to the next. It was so fun & interesting.

Oh, the gay pride parade right outside the doors when we went to lunch was interesting too! As was the guy with the purple fishnet stockings in the parking garage elevator. LOL
