Hit Me With Your Best........

Bet you thought I was going to say "shot", right??? Not this time but I do need your input. I'm in charge of an all-you-can-eat fried chicken dinner and I need your best recipes for down home southern fried chicken. I know how many great cooks there are on this board and I know you can help!!!

I don't prepare fried chicken but I do have Pat Benatar going on in the background now ;)

This is a tried and true recipe. It's DH's favorite meal in all the world!

Deep Fried Chicken Wings

1 large pkg chicken wings
1 C buttermilk
1 C Louisiana Hot Sauce (this does NOT make it spicy, only flavoured)
Flour for dredging
Whatever combination of seasonings you like (I use S & P, a bit of Old Bay, and a few scrapes of a nutmeg)
Oil for deep frying

Combine buttermilk and the hot sauce in a large bowl and dip wings in sauce.

Combine flour and seasonings and dredge dipped wings till well coated. Carefully place in hot deep fryer and cook until they are a deep golden brown, turning occasionally, for approx. 10 minutes. Drain on paper towel and thoroughly enjoy!

Note: Honestly, these wings are not spicy hot at all. I was very surprised but delighted. They are absolutely the best wings IÂve ever made. The recipe originated from Paula Deen, except hers uses eggs instead of buttermilk. It is also delicious, but if you have leftovers, the egg-coating doesnÂt translate well the next day. The buttermilk idea came from Tyler Florence.

Rhv stands for Rhynchostylis x Vanda so it's a cross between two genera...the name is probably Rhv. Thailand "Somsri". No soil needed (especially where you are)! Just hang it somewhere that gets really good sunlight, water every other day/every day when it's really hot and less when it's cooler. I don't grow vandas but they should be pretty happy where you are - look up "vanda culture" on google for much good information!

have had miss dig here 3 times over the years ... they are very convert in their answers .... electric.. cable and phone all come in there.. they can tell me where within 6 inches becasue their gizmo isnt that precise ....... we are talking about a 4 foot wide bed ... and they will NOT commit to depth.. all 3 guys said depth-wise .... there is were it is supposed to be.. and where the gomer put it ... i am not messing with it ... i am lazy ... am extremely afraid of unrestrained electricity .... period.. this isnt king tuts tomb.. i am not going to do an archeology dig .... i figure the juniper .. will probably be there for a few decades ... and the thuja not far behind... i figure rotting wood will steal water and the decomposition process has the potential for stealing nitrogen ... so IF I REMEMBER.. i will throw down some fert once a year ... and luckily.. its on drip irrigation.. so the water should be all set ... any comments along those lines ..???? ken

First of all, you've got to build a wall. Use colorful materials and be sure to include some strong, powerful elements, such as turrets and towers with lighting and a star on top. That white house -- all white, very boring! I suggest tapping the Treasury for some gold bars to gild the lily, er... I mean the capitals, pediment, and window lintels. Some full-color nude friezes (perhaps your wife will model?) could easily be added along the roofline for greater visual interest. And that simpering fountain, wow, what a shame! In the age of technology, why not add a computer-controlled water and light show (see youtube link below). Copying some of the world's greatest sculptures in a durable material such as nylon or resin using a 3-D printer would be really classy! Fantastic! Annie, I, too, appreciate your helming this ship and I hope we can get back to normal soon. I vote to keep the name as it because it is so well known and most of us know what to do. My suggestion would be when you state the theme for the day, right under it maybe post something like "Let's see YOUR photos" or something like that. That way it's clear right away and you can look at the rules, but it's pretty clear what is expected. Your photo may very well be one that someone else took but if you just say that when you post it, that should suffice. Most everybody starts at the very beginning of each post so they should see that message. Thanks for all you do!!! Beer fried chicken
This makes for a crispy batter
1 chicken, cut up~ you only get crispy if you leave the skin on, or buy one cut up.
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup cornmeal
1 can beer(not lite, does not have the amount of hops or yeast)
Cut up chicken and dip in beer.

Put flour and cornmeal into a brown paper bag, adding seasonings to taste(salt and pepper, I do a pretty fair amount salt about tablespoon salt or tad more, and whatever on the pepper, you can add other seasoning you like as well)

Put chicken pieces in bag one at a time and shake. Fry in crisco (not oil) in a hot cast iron skillet. Or what ever pan you have. if using electric frying pan deep fryer, 325Â°
