We also love that door style. It was our original choice, but then decided to simplify because we are trying to build aging in place. With that, we're thinking of every possible place that needs cleaning, so going with a single panel to reduce the little ridges that collect dust. All that being said, I was watching Mad Men one night and one of the doors in a residence was multi panels. I then starting noticing these doors everywhere. My conclusion: they transcend a specific style and label. I think your hardware is more important for the design statement you want to make.

I wanted feet on my shaker vanity but the manufacturer only had those bun feet or chippendale style that would not look right. The first picture below is an inspiration photo -- it is NOT my bathroom (I wish!). The second is my vanity and I'm sorry you can hardly see the legs/feet. A designer at the home store where I ordered the vanity suggested I order a table leg and have my contractor cut it in to three feet. So his instructions on how to put that together is the third image. It was a lot less expensive than ordering three vanity feet from the kitchen cabinet company. Good luck on your search.

These are wonderful! I'm embarrassed to say I had only been searching ON Gardenweb's site for kitchens, it hadn't occurred to me to use Google (I feel like a dunce)... Mpagmom your link had kitchens that I hadn't seen but are also beautiful and great inspiration, so thank you! I'm working on my layout and will post it soon, I'm so looking forward to getting opinions and suggestions from all the knowledgeable people here!

I had similar cabinets and here are the options I found: 1. Cut out the centers (leaving just a frame around) and insert new panels inside that frame. I didn't opt for this option because my edges were pretty beaten up. 2. You can apply a "edge", like you mentioned, but you won't be able to really cover up the routed edges. You'd have to fill them with auto body filler and then sand - lot of work. 3. Get some poplar wood and plywood and using just a table saw, glue, and clamps you can build completely new shaker style doors. I built 12 doors and it cost me about $150 for the materials. It was totally worth it. The cabinets look like new!!!! If I knew how to, I'd post some pictures. Love the end effect!
